  1. I think I might dig Darling as GM, but yeah, this is all just fodder for the most part.
  2. Benjamin Grimm wrote: How silly. The Mets may be up or down by eight runs. A pinch-hitting appearance by David Wright isn't going to change the result of the game. To use that as a blanket excuse for not letting him play is absurd. he included the 'unless it's a blowout' caveat. fuck the dodgers and/or home field though.
  3. Centerfield wrote: The danger with citing luck (and I know this is not the point you are trying to make, but that others have improperly inferred from your post) is that somehow this means the gap to the division title is closer. While it may be likely that the Braves might not get lucky again, it's folly to think that someone in the division won't win as many as 94 games. Well, yes, the Mets should be looking to build a team that is capable/likely/projected/pickaword to win 90-95 games, minimum, but it does speak to their ability to do so that some of the Braves ascension is a house of cards that won't hold up.

  5. Active on the roster: David Wright.
  6. - excuse for beat guys to reference Friends.
  7. The Nationals have beat the Mets 9 out of 10 games I've attended in the MLB Ballpark App era. All those were at Citi Field (And I am not in attendance tonight)
  8. I think Harper's just a hot head for the most part, but in a MLB clubhouse that passion and intensity is probably valued.
  9. his speed has been pretty steady at 25.57sh ft/s the last four years actually. Good for about 500th in the league. Only Frazier, Bruce (he's usually a half mph faster, but plantar issues this season), and the three back-up non-Plawecki catchers are slower. Rosario is 21st fastest in the league fwiw.
  10. bmfc1 wrote: The Nationals "Winterfest" is December 1 and 2. Have the Mets announced their Winterfest dates yet? they did that in 2014, doesn't look like since? i don't know if it's the same thing. doesn't look like it.
  11. he uh, probably already should've been on the non-tender block this offseason. *ducks*
  12. 2 runs in 6.1 insures Scherzer's ERA goes up.
  13. seawolf17 wrote: Benjamin Grimm wrote: So how many runs do the Mets have to score tonight to get Scherzer's ERA over 9.00? Around 150. 149 will do it, as long as it's without an out.
  14. cooby wrote: No wonder he hasn’t twitted lately he only set up the twitter to promote his book and now we're somewhat post that.
  15. go away John Smoltz.
  16. well yeah, because deGrom struck 30 more guys out so there was no chance for the ball to bounce out glove. But hell, Wheeler should get a 5th place vote or two for the Cy Young, straight up. (And Nimmo MVP votes) why are we bad again?
  17. RealityChuck wrote: I'm finding a 9:50 am flight to LaGuardia that gets in at 11:19. Fine for a night game, and even possible for a day game. no, that's fine, but the team doesn't report until like 2:30, so if you have a guy that's got a nagging injury that you want to see if he wakes up swollen or whatever, test it out, you won't know until about 3. the 9:50 flights from Vegas get to Citi Field in time too.
  18. Centerfield wrote: Dom Smith. .892 OPS post all-star break. Small sample size? Misleading production during meaningless September games? Breakout star? first one. I don't think it's misleading, it's nice to see him driving the ball a bit at least. but he's still not walking, so..
  19. Frayed Knot wrote: I think it's a fairly minor deal also -- although, sure, you'd rather be close than far -- but one of the minor positives out of Vegas was the number of flights available on a daily basis just from Vegas being Vegas At least if there's a lack of flights next year then the call-up can stick out his thumb and try hitching a ride down the NYS Thruway I think fman has already signed on to be MetsUber. there's a 3:50 PM – 5:13 PM daily flight from Syracuse to Newark, which is still iffy for game time. There's a 5:31-6:59 to LGA that also is iffy. hmm, maybe "Let's see if he can go when he gets to the park and then we'll fly someone here for game time" won't quite work.
  20. Apparently Fresno doesn't even have direct flights to DC. i mean, i think this stuff is of minimal impact to the team in general, thought kind of annoying, but it does amuse me. I'm not interested in this, but you could probably get some #content out of tracking how many times the Mets play with 24 next season as compared to the past few.
  21. But it's like how we call Jose Reyes a terrible baseball player when he's still in the 1% of the 1%..
  22. Looks like Benitez to me.
  23. MFS62 wrote: Callaway announced that he will start Reyes at shortstop, alongside Wright, on Sept 29th. Memo to Terry.: Don't start a "ground ball" pitcher that day. Later boo.
  24. oh. Perhaps I misread "The station will also provide in-depth pregame and postgame coverage." as probably hosting something similar to what Pete did.
  25. G-Fafif wrote: Pete McCarthy and Sal Licata each tweeted the forthcoming demise of the WOR Sports Zone in light of WOR no longer having the Mets anchoring their sports programming. McCarthy has been really good in his pregame and postgame role since 2014, comparable to Howie Rose at the birth of Mets Extra. Listeners would be well-served if he travels with the Mets to WCBS as well, though CBS having other non-Mets commitments puts that in question. they're doing a pre and post, so hopefully Pete goes, though I admit I hadn't listened currently. Licata was a co-host on that or something? That would've turned me off anyway. I know I see him bloviating on commercials for SNY fake-debate shows, and I imagine that'll continue. Unless they drop him for McCarthy.
