    that type of attitude is why baseball players get reluctant to say anything but cliché. Alonso particularly, is not really a "woe is me" guy. You're mincing his words and all he's thinking is deGrom's pitching, we'll get 'em tomorrow.

    there's no way, unless you're gonna short rest him, that deGrom would start both games against the Dodgers if he's not pitching game 1 (and 5). Arguably if you burn deGrom now in the Wild Card, you start Scherzer on short rest in game 1 so you have him for 5. This way you still get 3 games of them right? I wonder if that possibility has Buck pull Scherzer earlier tonight than he would otherwise, particularly with a few run lead..

    catching is physically demanding. We often underestimate the value of simply rest, good sleep, less fatigue, etc. Anyway. I don't love the deGrom thing. It seems like over-thinking it, and this from a manager who famously didn't use his best reliever in an elimination game.

I did some budgeting and decided if I'm gonna splurge for one game, it'll be the World Series this year. too much going on personally.

    People break 61 year old lesser records all the time. Pete Alonso literally broke the same caliber of record 3 years ago. Did he get back pages and cut-ins? Michael Kay (And Sterling) are their announcers. that's what they want. Garbage franchise gets it's garbage sound byte. I don't think I've ever even heard the Maris HR call? I think I watched the 61* movie though, was it in that?
