I left a ton of points on the table that could have put me into second place. I'm back in for next year, and I don't want to make a massive financial investment, but a fun $20 buy-in or something is doable. yeah. I don't want to get too heavily financially into fantasy. I'm already in Fman's league for like $100 or something. but I was thinking like $20, or even 10. at $20 we could do $120 to the winner and like $40 to the second half winner or like $5 for each category win.
  3. Everyone's still in right? Anyone want to be first alternate for someone that may or may not come back? I was able to add a site password which should prevent people from randomly grabbing accidentally abandoned teams. the password for the league is 'ed'.
  4. Divison and a playoff situation would be kinda cool, yes.
  5. been to the Cyclones and the Ducks. Had intentions of seeing the Rockland Boulders or (and now no longer possible) the Bridgeport Bluefish this summer, but didn't. Spring? I lose track. it's fluid. Pirates home old Red Sox home. Tigertown PSL Marlins home Nationals home. Cardinals home.
  6. I've been to San Diego twice (I think, why do I think it's three? where is my brain) the first time in 2006 and the second yes, it was three! 2006, 2009, and 2011. (2011 feels like it was like last year, I only remember when it was by looking up a beer I've only had once, on that trip, on Untappd) 2006 it was still pretty dumpy, but by 2011 it was pretty nicely built up around the park, with breweries and restaurants. Hope for Citi. I managed to never see a game. toured in 2006 but went to Tijuana instead of a game. 2009 the Padres weren't home when I was there. (for a really ridiculous start-up interview) and in 2011 was there for a conference with my wife in early October so season over. But you can see into the park from the outside and that little league field and sandbox and all that. There are now huge skyscrapers which I imagine can see into the park. The gaslight district is fun, good eats. There's always good beer somewhere close, or you could take a ride up to Stone's World Bistro (something I highly recommend).

Minute Maid Park is probably next unless I stumble down to Nationals Park next season for some reason.

    Moana

I think I'm gonna get facepaint and a basic coconut hat thing and just do that. Or I could go as Maui but apparently that's "cultural appropriation" or something.

    Moana

I enjoyed this. was fun. Ceetarette was iffy about it at first but she happily rewatched it in one sitting so she must have liked it a bit at least. Which is good because we're going to a Moana themed twins 4th birthday party in a few weeks. Anyone know where I can get a coconut costume to dress up as a Kakamora?
  10. metsmarathon wrote: yeah, man. there's a lot of dollars still out there burning a hole in every team's pocket. at this point, you probably have to pay double what a guy is probably worth in the draft, or just hope to get really lucky. is there a type of player you might be in particular need of? i'm developing a bit of a surplus of players. btw... please don't quit fantasy. you're the commish of my favorite fantasy league, dangit! I need POWER. I'm sure by next spring things will have calm down some and I won't feel as overwhelmed.
  11. you guys stole every last guy I auctioned. bleh, I knew I should've just overpaid for one rather than spreading the love and hoping to keep the ones that weren't just having a good month.

John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: What the hell is going on in this league? 3 weeks ago I was trying to start a Fire Sale (Ceetar never responded to a generous trade offer to kick it off) this morning I'm a half-point out of first place, which is as close as the Lunchladies have ever been this deep into a season (top 5 teams are very close right now) and I forgot to activate Matz yesterday. My thought was, "these other teams couldn't possibly suck as much as mine does" but I guess you do. All that said, open to offers on intriguing property in exchange for same and where I can I save a buck. In general I'd like an elite shortstop and have homer-hitting first basemen up the wazoo Sorry. I'm sorta fried and overwhelmed, I didn't even notice your offer until you canceled it. I'm actually thinking of giving up fantasy altogether after this season.

    Frozen

It's a pretty good movie all in all.
  14. Like I said, if you need I'll autodraft (I definitely don't have time or a spare brain cell irl right now) and happily play waiver wire and all that. plenty of midseason sleepers. ceetar@gmail.com or just ceetar on yahoo if he wants to invite.
  15. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: By the way I invited the new guy to the pool. Also for a low labor game my brothers head to head Yahoo league wants more participants draft Thursday https://yho.com/mlb?l=54185&k=d19cba3cba6899a5&soc_trk=lnk&ikey=c3bc34d0abe41316 I have a Yahoo spot if he's desperate I'll play, though I'll probably autodraft.

I just threw a couple bid s up on guys I figure I could use (or trade) and who at any rate valued more than $2 (which is basically MAX offer on anyone, given my current budget) you can tell if someone's bid? I'm not sure if it explicitly tells you (it might) but you can look and see the high bid on every player in the acquisition pipeline. Look! Joe Panik for $6!! I don't think so.. what's the high bid for Gregory Bird?

  18. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Like I said, he went to $3 on Miller and I'm sure you'll have me to thank for his going $3 on Joe Panik. I didn't lose any of what little cash I have. Did you tell him you were bidding him up? these auctions are silent no? I was going to bump Dilson Herrera but I got distracted irl.
  19. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I think if you have the cash you owe it to the league to bid the guy up. I have three bucks and will make him pay for someone I mean, if I see a guy I'd actually use, but I'd rather save my cash for injury replacements.' Yeah, but that guy has a mint and no alternatives, he'll pay $3 for Joe Panik or Shelby Miller believe me exactly, so let him get the guys cheap and then I'll trade him more expensive guys for cap space.

  21. smg58 wrote: Anybody Know who Rougned's Odor is? He took over Initech's "team" and just started a whole bunch of auctions. I'm all for not competing on any of his initial bids. yeah, figured I'd let him get his fill of waiver stuff.
  22. metsmarathon wrote: i think that it's worth figuring out hte parameters now, and getting league input, too. before we need to. each team protects X number of players, and the expansion team gets to pick Y number of players overall. and what happens when one of your players gets picked? is there a maximum number of players you can pick off a given team? and when would we run the expansion draft? what if an owner crops up in-season? it's easier if we do it in the off-season, but that's no panacea either... if we wait to figure it out until we need to figure it out, we won't have time to figure it out until it's too late. If someone picks up the team mid-season then we do nothing and just go with it. (though to be fair I'd let them cut all the players I filled the team with for free. Barry Bonds, Tim Wakefield, etc) My initial thought is just to spread the love around. Everyone can protect 3 players, the new owner would take 1 player from each team. They'd start with 11 players and I think that's a fine number. I'd want to do this before the keeper deadline.
  23. metsmarathon wrote: i love it when a plan falls completely to hell. had all my draft prep on my one computer, which failed to load at all during hte draft. boo. good thing i wasn't relying on that computer to play the part of m.e.t.b.o.t.! it would be tempting to spin up the 'bot to see how well he could do with picking up the pieces of the draft... there are still some useable pieces out there. and if the team were managed even a little, it could form the foundation for some future team to come in and not suck mightily for ever. or we could figure out how to run an expansion draft... we don't need to worry about it now, but I feel like we'll have to set up something. like new team would get one player from each team and each team would be able to protect..3? guys.
  24. metsmarathon wrote: no deal. can't quite make it to the draft tonight, and no time to prepare even if he could. do we just let the team ride through the season, and let it get picked up at the end of the year? or let in some rando, either now or after the draft? I don't think we can let someone in after, with all the real players taken, if that happens, I dunno.. I feel like if we don't have someone by draft time I should release all his players though. It's open to random people. Anyone that wants to claim the team can claim the team. The team's already pretty bad, but a team starting from scratch in 2018 against keeper teams is pretty hopeless. If that happens I think we all have to agree to give the new team a player or something in advance, but we'll worry about this then.
  25. metsmarathon wrote: though i may see if i could recruit a mets fan that i work with. that would probably be better! Yes. anyone that knows someone that might want to play ,reach out! hell, even if they just want to play with the auction draft. I'd rather have the 12th team at least drafting and having a roster so that we could presumably pick it up next year if we had to, without having to figure out if we need to have an expansion draft or something.
