  3. eh. it was okay. watched it just before I saw the Avengers last week. Just seemed flat and uncompelling. May have been my least favorite of the bunch.
  4. Edgy DC wrote: I think I read it was the second time that a team picked up both the Mets and the Yankees on one trip to New York. Seems like a staggering waste of resources not to do it more often, but I guess that's a byproduct of the over-commitment to creating a universal interleague weekend. Which clearly won't be the case next year. I wonder if it happens more often next year. On the other hand, not staggering it creates more makeup opportunities. I could even create interesting ones. Imagine the Mets and Reds rained out in April, but he Reds are playing the Yankees in June. Maybe in June the Mets play the Reds in the afternoon, and then the Reds bus over to Yankee Stadium while the Mets host whoever was the regular team for that homestand. freaky. It was nice of the Yankees to wake up Jose Batista though for us in exchange, and keep the Blue Jays bullpen rested (rusty?)
  5. don't think we've talked about it much. from memory they almost never swung 3-0 with HoJo but they seemed to be doing it more last year. I guess it could just be small sample. They're supposed to be looking for their pitch and maybe they're just not getting it? Or they're simply strugglnig enough that the players you'd want swinging have the take sign (except Wright, who I imagine doesn't get a lot of good pitches there)

    Mets Mall

Then, no later than 2025, they would start construction on a mixed-use component that would include housing and measure anywhere from 1.3 million square feet up to 4.5 million square feet. No rush or anything. Hell, Ruben Tejada will probably be retired by then.

They'd be murdering teams if they could freaking hit a home run once in a while. More home runs @ Philly than @ home in 30% of the games.

I've been watching mlb.tv via an app on my TV and it's at least 60 seconds behind mlb.tv on my computer. Because of this, I've read tweets about game events before the batter is in the box. yeah, same with people that grab some of those hidden feeds of games. It's like they feed the feed to something else, when then streams it. It's alright though, I'm at work and probably shoudln't be listening to the game while in here AND following twitter.
  13. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Kirk with a two-out single in the third. I'm hoping David Wright doesn't bunt here. the way his season is going, David would score on that bunt.
  14. bmfc1 wrote: ARGH! Stop bunting already! If Ronny Cedeno is deemed incapable of hitting a flyball so that you have to bunt each time he's up with a runner on third, then he's not a major league player. correct, he's not a major league player. Tejada is supposedly 7-10 days away. I'm listening on the app so I'm like 45 seconds behind.
  15. David Weathers in the bullpen.
  16. Edgy DC wrote: Why bring Carrasco in the get the one out in the seventh? Why bring him in at all? Why not bring in Parnell and, if he's getting the job done, try to let him get seven outs? It's so simple, it's stupid. Every out he gets for you is one out you don't have to look for from the last guy on your staff. Well, pitching him seven outs probably eliminates him from being used today. Whereas 3 or 4 wouldn't, but I agree, I was just musing on a different possibility. Lower leverage in the 7th due to the 9 outs left and still having the lead. I also would've preferred he leave Santana in.
  17. Wright 2.5 Ramirez 2.0 Baxter 1.5
  18. Batista 3.5 Murphy 3 Cedeno 1 Nieuwenhuis 1 Wright 1

Edgy DC wrote: To me, the key to focus on with DJ Carrasco is that the guy they tossed overboard at midnight is the the guy Terry let himself get foxed into using with the game on the line a hour or two earlier. And it's not like it was the 17th inning. That's crazy if you're willing to stop and think about it. Terry, you've got to stop and think. Yeah, using a guy that's one bad spot from being released in the most crucial spot in the game doesn't seem wise. Neither does the short role for Parnell given the short pen. I could've maybe bought their roles reversed. Give Carrasco that one out spot so you can us Parnell later. He was probably managing to get Santana a win in that spot though. Still, for a team showing itself real capable of comebacks, Terry needs to pitch 1-run deficits with better pitchers.

Gwreck wrote: The WSJ article fails to mention that all of the money from the ASG goes into the big MLB pot (same place the TV/MLB Advanced Media revenues go) which is split by all 30 teams at the end of the year. Hence, the Mets do get money from game, the same as everyone else. well yeah, but no more than if someone else hosted it. (or maybe not, guess it depends on ticket prices? set by MLB?) I thought some of the money went into the pension fund though?
  21. Gwreck wrote: 2. Carrasco has the right to refuse a minor league assignment, hence if Rubin is reporting that Carrasco wants free agency, it's pretty clear where he got that information from. (Unless you are prepared to accuse him of dishonest reporting). Doesn't mean his agent doesn't poke around and come back today with "Hey uhh..D.J.? no one wants you. go to Buffalo."
  22. Mets will make a ton of money off the game. Just not _from_ the game. It's pretty clear there will be very very few tickets available for us non-season ticket holders so plenty of people will jump aboard and the Mets will clearly start offering a second half plan for this year. (first come obviously getting first dibs for the Game) so they'll see an attendance boost this year as well. With the hope that things are on the up swing, the Mets are hoping when renewals roll around for the 2014 season, people won't cancel them. And with increased season ticket holders they can theoretically pitch higher advertising rates for in-stadium stuff.
  23. Edgy DC wrote: Hey, I refuse to remember him while he's still on the payroll. likewise. just Because rubin says it doesn't mean he'll be granted free agency.
