  1. hey, Batista pitched well! one rotation closer to Harvey.
  2. Steve Rushin: Current SI writer. Didn't realize he had gone back. Shows how much I've lost touch with SI. I found a 199..2 i think, issue of the swimsuit edition.
  3. the schedule is weird this year. I guess it's a way to shoehorn interleague in properly, which will at least be resolved next year. 2 w/ reds too before IL. but we play the Reds again so it's actually 8 with the Reds, seven with the Rockies and Pirates, but only 5 with the Brewers all season. Anyway, the Mets would like to avoid going back into a losing streak here. Hopefully Batista seemingly settling down a little at the end last time and maybe being a little more stretched out and a little less tired (extra day too) maybe he can keep us in the game and they can at least win one of these two? Sounds like it's gonna come down to if the Mets can hit or not. Both righties. Maybe Davis and Duda can have some fun and win these games offensively.
  4. Is it..tacky? of me to want the Mets to get involved in this in September if it's a near certainty he's going to pass it? I know 1418 isn't all "OMG HALL OF FAME!" but can we an update on the scoreboard or (maybe fans with an updatable banner?) Kranepool throwing out a first pitch to Wright or something?
  5. I'm getting absolutely embarrassed. A shakeup is in the works. someone's losing their job.

  8. found it. You only credited him with 1 hit in your update from through 4/20 in your next update through 4/25 he actually had a hit on 4/24 and 4/25.
  9. perhaps an error changed to a hit sometime after the game and no one mentioned it?
  10. Wright now needs less hits than games played to take this lead this season. the poetic way would be for that hit to be a walk-off NL East clinching hit.
  11. It's Mother's Day. That means pink bats like this one. I don't know why the Mets are using bats in the Marlin's color scheme though. Probables are Jon Niese vs. Carlos Zambrano. Mets are trying to go 6 above .500 for the first time. (and depending on the Nats and Braves fighting for first) The Marlins are trying to avoid dropping back to .500.
  12. Ike Davis and David Wright are hitting .288 combined.
  13. the guy broadcasting with McCarver: "How does All-Star R.A. Dickey sound?"
  14. geeze, so when do we seriously start talking about Wright hitting .400?
  15. Keith was talking last night about a baseball card he had of Mickey Mantle that had the the trajectory of his home run that nearly left Yankee Stadium.

  18. This team is awesome.

  20. attgig wrote: I need to set up a slingbox in one of you'alls homes in the NY metropolitan area, so I can truly watch my mets games whenever i want... mlb.tv doesn't do it. fox doesn't do it. and i blame both mlb AND fox for this. mlb could've done a better job at protecting their content, and giving the consumers what the want. but, their revenue from cable extra innings package was limited vs what fox gives, and mlb.tv blossomed AFTER the deal went through. if they don't change it with their new contract, they will be 100% to blame. MLB Network too I believe. It's always about money obviously, but that doesn't mean we don't have a right to complain and argue that everyone should have access to all games. Isn't that what mlb.tv is supposedly promoting? There _are_ streams available that stream the game online if you dig, which I've never had to do.
  21. Benjamin Grimm wrote: There are two different things mentioned in this conversation. The FOX Saturday exclusivity is one thing, and I can understand it without liking it. The other thing, about how the regions are divided up, is another. It's ridiculous and it should be changed. Why, as cooby has discovered, is Central Pennsylvania listed as Mets territory? Cooby can't subscribe to SNY, and she can't see Mets games on MLB.com or Extra Innings. And someone mentioned that the Mets are also blacked out in Las Vegas. That kind of silliness should be eradicated as soon as possible. well that's not the same as the Fox zones anyway right? That's more an MLB.tv complaint. I'm not in the know in this dept, but I have to imagine it has to do with ratings right? But should it? I mean, if they can determine you're "in the blackout area" why can't they also just show you the commercials? Give you, literally, the same stream that's being shown on SNY? I'm sure it's something murky with broadcasting stuff I don't understand, but why should SNY care if you're watching the game via the television or the computer if you're watching the same stream of content they're outputting? If anyone should be upset about this, it's the radio. If local NYers could set up their iPads in the corner of the yard next to the BBQ streaming SNY they'd only increase the number of screens on the channel, but it might decrease the radios tuned to WFAN.
  22. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Just for the sake of argument, what meat, if any, would we want to pick off their corpse? Whatever we want, we can feed the fish in the aquarium in Miami with it.
  23. Edgy DC wrote: One wonders if they have a chance of signing those guys after all they've invested in Howard, Utley, Rollins, Lee, and Halladay. Pence too, for that matter. Oh, one mustn't think of such things! their payroll has skyrocked and their income, if not stagnating, has come close since they already sell out every game.
  24. that was prompted by a Ruben Amaro Jr quote which I think was basically "if we're playing like this we'd be sellers"
