  1. I picked the Pirates, but after I clicked I changed my mind to Beltran..i mean the Cardinals. I just can't root for the Pirates. they're supposed to be bad. They're the archetypal bad team. It messes with my head.' Otherwise, in order Tigers/Orioles/Giants/Angels I like the Tigers, Verlander. Orioles are the closest to taking over the division so I like them, Always sorta liked the Giants and Angels, probably just because those are my favorite of the 5 Cali cities.
  2. well should be a fun broadcast at least.. [youtube:3plaxwal]vQTp8Ozj1JQ[/youtube:3plaxwal]

  4. Edgy DC wrote: Nope. Sticks with Turner. Don't give in, Terry! Turner hits righties better. (but strikes out anyway)
  5. no. But it did take him 11 pitches to not drive him in, so there's that.
  6. It's All-Star, but it's also stupid. I hate dashes. And I think All Star makes more sense than far-fetched since fetched doesn't feel like a word. but what do I know, I've never been taught grammar. Hit for Murphy. can Hairston drive him in with 2o uts?
  7. Gwreck wrote: It's not far-fetched that Jason Bay could hit 10 homers in his next 20 ABs? Yes, I suppose if by "not far-fetched" you mean it's "not far-fetched" that I could win the Powerball and buy a suite for the CPF at Citi Field next year. Not that far fetched that he could have something approaching the .918 OPS he had against lefties last year.
  8. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Yeah but if he hit 10 HRs in his next 20 ABs maybe we could trade him instead of releasing him. Either way I can't see this going on for much longer. LeBlanc's a lefty. I wonder if now that they're home they'll drop him against righties.
  9. Gwreck wrote: Ceetar wrote: I told myself I'd give him until 150 AB until I started bitching. He's got 130 ABs. If he went 10 for 20 (all homers) in those next 20 ABs, he'd still have a sub-.800 OPS. It's not about his overall numbers, it's about him being out for long enough that you wonder if he needs a "spring training" worth of AB to get his bat going. Timing, reps, etc. He did smack around lefties last year, so it's not that far fetched that he could do that again.

  11. Gwreck wrote: A player has option years. He can be sent up and down any number of times within the option years. correct, but you have to be in the minors 20 days for it to count as an option year. I was wondering if the DL counts, or if he's done for the season does it not burn the option? not that it probably matters in Kirk's case.

  13. True. I know I pay so little attention to commercials that even if I was making a point to watch for one I wouldn't believe I hadn't just missed it. so if you're pretty sure it didn't air, maybe they've decided 'new month, new ad direction'? I know they have started suggesting ticket holders renew for 2013 to lock in pricing, so might just be that.
  14. Also factors in Wright's struggles: broken backs, concussions.
  15. batmagadanleadoff wrote: batmagadanleadoff wrote: Does anybody here really think that the choice seats at Citi Field, field level at and around home plate are mostly sold out, as the Mets claim? Those sections are way too empty, too often, for the Mets' claims to hold any water. And if the Mets really did sell out (or mostly sell out) all of their choice seats, why the hell are they running ads for the Champions Club with the all you can eat buffet, like every two or three innings on every SNY broadcast? I haven't seen the Champions Club SNY ad since I wrote the post above. Coincidence? Mets were on the road? Something else? Probably the west coast trip, or you just didn't notice it. Or they're switching gears towards selling tickets for next year?
  16. Mets offense soaring from a 4.43 R/G last year to 4.49 this year! They could try the Phillies method too. The Phillies pushed back the walls after 2005 and scored 58 more runs.
  17. useless info: Only 10 of the active Marlins have ever played at Shea Stadium. Only 13 of the active Mets.
  18. Excepting maybe Giancarlo Stanton..Will Reyes be the longest tenured Marlin on Opening Day 2014?

  21. just sloppiness that let this thread lapse to page 5, or have we been healthy lately? Byrdak, anterior capsule tear. Haven't decided on surgery or not yet, but I mean, he tore the capsule, so it's probably inevitable. Don't know what the time line is for this for a reliever. Can be help at the trade deadline next year maybe? Johnson hurt his hand. day to day. I'm not sure why we're playing short with a third string catcher. get Nickeas back or add May to the roster or something. they all suck. Nieuwenhuis has partial tear of the plantar facia. No surgery. sounds like rehabedness. what's the options rules on this? You have to have 20 days in the minors to burn an option, but he's not there yet. If he doesn't play..?
  22. Lefty Specialist wrote: Yeah, for $23 shipped I fell for it, too. Wonder how long it'll take ESPN to realize they're having a fire sale. If it's still on sale tomorrow and my car repair costs less than $200 I'm in.
  23. Struggling Marlins Begin Construction On New Stadium MIAMIAfter a disappointing start to their inaugural season in Marlins Park, Miami Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria unveiled plans Friday to build a new waterfront stadium at Mid-Beach, tentatively called Marlins Field. "We made a lot of great memories at Marlins Park, but our fans need a modern facility capable of housing a winning team," said Loria, who expects funding for the project to be approved by the city and county governments. "This is something we can't solve just by renaming the team the Southeastern Miami Marlins, changing our colors to maroon and gold, hiring a new manager, and installing a sculpture of a giant mermaid who dances with six glittering, spinning marlins every time the team hits a home run, though certainly we will do all of those things." Loria said the Marlins will be conducting yet another fire sale to rid themselves of their recently signed star free agents, but added that he hopes the new stadium will be able to draw star free agents to Miami.
  24. I really enjoyed the series, but was so put off by them canceling it I haven't seen Epitaph or season 2 at all. (I believe I haven't seen the 'season 2' of Tru Calling either which I found pretty fascinating as well and most of season 4 of Angel. or Firefly. Geeze, I need to get on some of this don't I?) I think I'm just frustrated with all these neat ideas and universes being created and then barely explored. Maybe 5 set-up episodes was too many to get the feel for what the Dollhouse was, I vaguely remember it taking about that long before I was hooked, but once it took off it really was good and the whole concept seemed fun and really invited all sorts of story lines via knowing the character but it being able to be a different story each time. And the bit with Amy Acker was awesome, I feel like that really changed the way you watched the show. I joke sometimes that Being Human is actually a Dollhouse episode with Dichen Lachman, Sierra, being the active. (She plays a vampire in the second season of that show) Did I fall asleep?
