  1. The one guy just called that other guy Rick Sutcliffe. Sutcliffe sounds a little like McCarver in his cadence if not in his voice.
  2. Jeter intangibly flies out as "the tying run at the plate."
  3. Who is calling this game?
  4. A close call at the plate goes in the Yankees favor. Imagine that!

I kid the Brits, that's what they say, chuffed as hell mate....chuffed is happy.... Funny. I had the same conversation with a friend from London on Facebook a couple of years ago. For me "chuffed" sounds unpleasantly like "chafed." For a long time, I also thought "bloke" was an insult but turns out it just means "guy."

  7. 49 years on the schneid. Win a pennant for Texas! Or this Texas Ranger will roundhouse kick you in the heads:
  8. Cubs & Tigers at the dawn of time.
  9. Go Giants. Win one for San Francisco at last.
  10. Frayed Knot wrote: getting humped by an old and shaky Pettitte Ew! The imagery. I think the Fman-ing of CPF prose is getting out of hand.
  11. The Steve Henderson Game.
  12. The original documentary was rather bland & mediocre so I don't see myself too interested in a sequel.
  13. It's incumbent upon the Twins to cause some injuries to the Yankees in Game 3.
  14. F-ing Twins! Roll over and play dead like a freakin' opossum. Of course, the Rangers are no better. I predict the Yankees go 7-0 right into the pennant before eventually hoisting trophy 28.

  18. I always thought he was good at big things - signing Martinez & Beltran, trading for Santana, et al - but poor at getting the supporting cast for the big stars (often erring to players with impressive track records who were on the verge of precipitous decline or already declining).

  20. Edgy DC wrote: Tim Teufel, another prominent Jew bilked by Bernie Madoff. Teufel is Christian of an evangelical stripe.
  21. Are they trying to get the Phillies phans to boo Jayson Werth?
  22. Zvon wrote: Phils. Am I the only one who wants a PhuckinPhilly/NYSkankee WS here? Why do you hate the World Series?
  23. I voted for the Rays because I like them better as a team, but I think the Rangers getting a chance at a first pennant and first World Series would be interesting too. Also, I kind of like the idea of a Twins-Rangers ALCS and wonder if there's anyone left in Washington who would find that tortuous.
  24. Looks like the Yankees got a bye into the ALCS.
  25. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Nice to be reminded, I guess, that I didn't go into this season with a lot of optimism. Optimism and Grimm are two words that don't go together.
