  6. I like how the second one features the sylvan, suburban subdivision of Willets Point.

  8. Mercy sakes! Met Survivors of Brutal Head-to-head Outfield Collisions: Hahn Theodore Mazzilli Norman Cameron Beltran I believe wilson & dykstra had a horrible head to head collision in left center. No, that was... Mookie and Terry Blocker? John Christensen and Terry Blocker? For some reason, I remember Blocker being involved. the one i'm thinking of is definitely mookie and dykstra. they went face to face (as fk pointed out), and i remember after they collided, one of them raised their glove to tell everyone else they made the catch. later on, I remember mookie having a bandaid on his eyebrow because i think it was dykstra's teeth that opened a cut there. Eww...I don't want to think about what may have been on Dyktra's teeth. The Mookie-Lenny collision occurred during Doc Gooden's first start after cocaine rehab in 1987.

And you get an account by subscribing so it can't be a free game. Not that it matters much to me since I've already paid, but it's weird. Weirder still, I've got SNY images with the San Diego broadcast team's play-by-play.

  11. Indeed, it's still better than the official Mets site is now.

That was the last time I saw them with my own eyes. dgwphotography wrote: Then there were Edgy's orange pants... That was a later meetup. Edgy wore shorts on Aug. 9, 2001 because it was freakin' hot. Although for some reason Mark Johnson wore a long-sleeve shirt under his jersey. I actually went to the Brooklyn Cyclones game that night for a two-ballpark doubleheader.
  13. Ten years ago, in the 100 degree heat of Shea Stadium's right field bleachers, many of us met for the first time at the MetsOnline.net Fan Forum Picnic. It was incredibly hot but we lasted all nine innings and saw a Mets win. In my memory this game kicked of the Mets' late season surge but the UMDB shows that the Mets actually lost the next 7 games before turning things around. Personally, I find it hard to believe that I have internet friends that I've known for more than a decade.
  14. Mike Baxter is our emergency Met.

  17. That's more than eleven Mets.
  18. David Justice.
  19. I always conflate him with Jeff Conine who is suitably retired.
  20. It can't compare with Sports Shouting.

  23. Has any player traded mid-season ever signed with the team that traded them after the season? Seems unlikely.
  24. Interesting article on Grantland about the city of Detroit through the lens of sports. The author is an acquaintance of mine.
  25. If only George Foster and crew spoke Spanish this would be less cringe-inducing (to English speakers at least): [youtube:3iwnli9d]hpvufrpAhls[/youtube:3iwnli9d]
