  1. I was never able to finish that Frank Thomas book. I mean, it wasn't that bad, just kind of repetitive.
  2. We might even be getting photos of someone vacuuming in Port St. Lucie to get excited about.
  3. It seems that John Lindsay divided his summer between Shea Stadium and the Harlem Cultural Festival.
  4. Now they need to hire someone named Watson as their director of medical.
  5. I was thinking that Franco is looking more like Kurt Russell now than he did in his playing days.
  6. =kcmets post_id=84660 time=1642292923 user_id=53] I just feel the need to say this, fuck Wade Boggs haha...
  7. Frank Robinson.
  8. Do managers count, because Casey Stengel is a no-brainer then.
  9. I like how my toaster GIF is on there.
  10. Straw started using coke in the minor leagues if not earlier. Not that I hold that against him since I consider the "drug abuse is a personal failure" narrative to be bullshit.
  11. Shank has such a punchable face.
  12. The good news is that Peter Gammons recovered and returned to work in September of that season.
  13. Personally, I've come to believe that instead of retiring numbers, the numbers should be assigned anew each season in a special ceremony at Spring Training. Once the starting players for all the position players are determined, they are assigned a number that corresponds to the position's scorecard number (2 for catcher, 3 for first base, and so on). Now the #1 is the pitchers number but since you have multiple pitchers, the starting pitchers numbers start with one so your ace wears 11, your number two pitcher wears 12, and so on. Bench players wear numbers in the 20s. If you have a platoon you might want to assign both players a number in the 20s instead of giving one of them a number in the 2 to 8 range. The bullpen wear numbers in the 30s. Players acquired in-season through call-ups or trades get numbers starting from 40 in the order that they arrive. If you have a player who is exclusively a designated hitter, they wear 0. I would reserve the #1 as a special honor that can be awarded to a pitcher if they won the Cy Young Award in the previous season or some similar accomplishment like leading the league in ERA or strikeouts. Similarly, the #10 would only be given out to a position player who accomplished something great in the previous season like winning the MVP or leading the league in homeruns. Anyhow, that's my system.
  14. If Mookie Wilson is a Red Sox, does it change the course of the 1986 World Series?
  15. Allegedly, the https://www.tasteatlas.com/woo-wooWoo Woo cocktail was invented by a bartender in Bayside who liked to celebrate the Mets scoring by giving out this drink to patrons.
  16. Stick a plug in it, guys!
  17. He basically loves everything to do with baseball. Relatable.
  18. What's Eric Chavez's experience in driving in runners from scoring position with fewer than 2 outs? And can he teach that skill to Mets batters?
  19. My association with Coleman was that when he was a Card he'd always get on base somehow against the Mets and then steal 2nd and 3rd and then score, which drove everyone crazy. I wasn't following baseball when Coleman actually became a Met.
  20. My kids got me: Mr. Met socks, a Mr. Met coffee mug, and a copy of So Many Ways to Lose.
