  1. Yancy Street Gang wrote: I read somewhere that there was once a player named "Johnny Dickshot." And his nickname was "Ugly" Dickshot.
  2. This thread title could be taken in a naughty fashion. Not by me of course. I'm just sayin'...
  3. Does Armando Benitez have the same thing in common with anonymous Polish-American as Friend and Bragg?
  4. Hey you kids! Get outta here! Go play in the non-baseball forum!
  5. A good batch of new inductees are in the Featured Archives forum and I bumped a couple of clever parodies to the parodies forum and some prognosticating to the Predictions archive (someone has to make it there job to read the Predictions archive and verify if any of these predictions come true). The PotG, KTE, & Game Recounts forums are now empty (except for some thread YSG asked me to keep) and ready to fill up again next season. Now the next archival project is the Non-Baseball forum. Where do we put threads that we want to keep on the board? In the Featured Archives forum, a special NBF Featured Archives forum, or just keep bumping them up in the NBF forum? Anyhow the NBF doesn't grow too fast so it's not a pressing problem, just want to get some suggestions.
  6. Wally Whitehurst.
  7. Someone needs to make a videotape/DVD compilation of old Kiner's Korners.
  8. Here's one book we won't be reading.
  9. You're such a geek!
  10. Not many places to put a DH on the Mets.
  11. FK just guaranteed this thread a spot in the Featured Archives.
  12. Not so much a question but just a general impression of what it was like to work with Ralph Kiner and Tim McCarver. Any particular memories, funny stories. Maybe someone can phrase better as a question than I.
  13. True. The IQ's are much higher at SOSH than WEEI. This reminds me last summer I saw a bumper sticker that read: BELICHICK/EPSTEIN 2008. Oh well....
  14. WEEI radio callers were already turning on Theo over the summer. He put together the team that won a World Series for God's sake. Red Sox fans are stupid.
  15. No more free Red Sox games for Bret.
  16. Should I have referred to Ron Darling as an Eli instead of a Yalie in my song parody?
  17. Minnesota farmer Ed Bouchee was the talk of the county fair with his new "Bouchee Sprout" a new hybridized breed of Brussels Sprouts that actually kids actually thing tastes good. Give me a Met who is an inspirational speaker at gatherings of people in 12-step programs?
  18. I'm looking forward to Bret returning to proclaim his newfound love for the Chicago White Sox.
  19. Now you can use Google Image Search to find pictures of joyful people!
  20. The biggest problem in my mind is that there is a 12-hour time zone difference? Where do these games get played while combating jet lag and half the TV audience needing to tune in at 5 AM? Is there a reasonable neutral location? Can they build a ballpark in Hawaii just for this annual event?
  21. Funnier if it was "The Constipated White Guy Legends Team."
  22. I suppose it would be impolitic to ask Zabriskie, "So Steve, did you ever just want to lean over and slap McCarver across the head?"
  23. Does his name kind of rhyme with Comiskey?
  24. May I suggest Foul Boul by Jim Bouton, or, Veeck as in Wreck by Bill Veeck or, The Glory of Their Times by Lawrence Ritter or, Baseball Forever by Ralph Kiner w/ Danny Peary. I plan on reading all of these books soon anyhow, but it would be a pleasure to read one or two of them with all of you. I should also note that today is Ralph Kiner's birthday (for the next forty minutes or so). Kiner's Korner does well at Jump the Shark.
