  1. Look for "the Astros are cursed" legends to spring up everywhere now. That's fucking hearbreaking!
  2. Holy fucking shit, you can't script shit like that!!!! 3-run kaboom by Pujols.
  3. Pujols against Lige with 2 on. Heart attack time if you're an Astros fan.
  4. Eckstein keeps the Cards alive with a single.
  5. One more out until the Class of '62's fifth NL Pennant.
  6. Three outs away from a very, very happy Switch Hitter Annie! Make that two!
  7. Delete that post now! Hollywood execs have their robots out crawling the web for crappy film ideas.
  8. Yes, because boxing ignites media firestorms in this day and age. There's no way this movie can end with Rocky winning and still being a good movie.
  9. Guillen used only five pitchers and 15 players overall in the entire ALCS!
  10. The Sox pen should be rested for the Series.
  11. Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye He'll never love you, the way that I love you 'Cause if he did, no no, he wouldn't make you cry He might be thrillin' baby but a-my love (my love, my love) So dog-gone willin' So kiss him (I wanna see you kiss him, wanna see you kiss him) Go on and kiss him goodbye Na na na na, hey hey-hey, goodbye Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye Listen to me now He's never near you to comfort and cheer you When all those sad tears are fallin' baby from your eyes He might be thrillin' baby but a-my love (my love, my love) So dog-gone willin' So kiss him (I wanna see you kiss him. 12. Things that may no longer be considered truisms: -It never rains in Southern California -Chicago teams never win baseball championships
  13. 3 outs are all that stand between Chicago and the city's first pennant celebration in 46 years.
  14. Yancy Street Gang wrote: There's a 75% chance that at the end of this postseason, we'll see our sixth different World Champion in the last six years. (Unless the Angels prevail.) It's now 100% that we'll see the six different World Champion in six years.
  15. This is Kasey Kasem counting down the most years without a League Championship. Moving up 22 spots on the charts to number one, from the Southside, the Chicago White Sox!
  16. And appeals to New York's broad Caucausian demographic.

  19. A year ago this week, the Boston Globe's crappiest sportswriter Dan Shaugnessy penned the following paragraph:" So there. For the 86th consecutive autumn, the Red Sox are not going to win the World Series. No baseball team in history has recovered from a 3-0 deficit and this most-promising Sox season in 18 years could be officially over tonight. Mercy."He of course was the first one to jump back on the bandwagon when the Sox did win.
  20. SwitchHitter wrote: Let me know when you come to MMP. I'll buy you a beer. Hmm...that actually looks promising. I've never been to Texas, it's Labor Day weekend, I love space exploration so I can visit all the NASA stuff. I'm going to see if I can make that work.
  21. Ah good, I can begin planning my annual trip to see the Mets play at an opponent's ballpark.
  22. ="TheOldMole"]It's OK if it looks hokey. It's history, not art. A great moment in baseball history and American history, and I'm glad it's being commemorated. I see your point, but I appreciate the times when history is commemorated with art. Case in point: The Boston Irish Famine Memorial. Definitely an historical event worth remembering, but the art is so bad and mawkish it's grotesquely comical.
  23. Sad to say, but that statue looks hokey.
  24. ="Frayed Knot"] And I'm certainly not buying the argument (put forth from several sources) that the 'importance of this game' means you somehow get more lax on a call like this. I agree, it's like the unspoke rule about hockey refs not calling penalties in overtime of playoff games. Gutless.
