They no longers have a MONOPOLY on acquiring all-star caliber sluggers, and Bradley's attitude problems could make them SORRY. Anyone in Yankees management with any CLUE of personnel management would find such a deal to be TABOO, especially if they have MEMORY of the the bad chemistry of the Bronx Zoo era teams. It would really BOGGLE the mind if they made the TRIVIAL PURSUIT to acquire Bradley, but if they do so I guess that's LIFE.
  2. Looks like I picked the right day to sleep in.

  4. Edgy DC wrote: The granddaddy of them all is Richie Ashburn 1062. Richie Asburn went medieval on the opponents when he played for Ye 1062 Mets.
  5. Oh wow, now I'm officially old. Congrats to John Olerud on a great career three years of which spent in a Mets uniform where he played quite well.
  6. A TransMonk sighting! Glory be!
  7. Centerfield wrote: ="Yancy Street Gang"]Am I the only one who doesn't care at all about the World Baseball Classic? I might watch an inning or two because any baseball in March is worth looking at, but I won't be rooting for the country I was born in, or for the country where my great-grandparents were born. I really don't care who wins. I just don't want any Mets players getting hurt. That's my rooting interest. I'm with you Yancy. And at the risk of sounding un-patriotic, if I happen to catch a US-Dominican Republic game and Jeter is facing Pedro, I'm rooting for Pedro to strike him out on three pitches. In fact, just looking at the names associated with the US team, Jeter, Chipper, Asshead...ever since Piazza decided to play for Italy, I'm not sure there's anyone on our team I can even stomach rooting for. Why do you hate America?
  8. Holy Shizzle, I share a birthday with David "Big Papi" Ortiz! That completely overwhelms the Mets born on the same date: Steve Henderson (who hit the walk-off grand slam that got me hooked on the Mets when I was young) Jay Hook Cal Koonce Allen Watson Other non-Mets: Gary Sheffield (Uncle Doc's birthday is 2 days earlier), "Flash" Gordon, "Bionic Fat" Bichette, Jamie Moyer and Gene Mauch.
  9. Heh, heh, he said "blows". In a thread about Anna Benson, heh-heh.
  10. This thread has fewer posts than the other one but it has a far better subject line.
  11. Manny's such a punk. I can't believe he asked out of the opening day game 'cause he has the sniffles.

  13. Looper .... Wagner Both have 6 letters Both have two syllables Both end in "-er" Wagner 's parents met on a double-Looper roller coaster Looper's parents were listening an opera by Wagner when he was conceived. Coincedence? I think not!
  14. Especially if the Mets ended up with Roger Cedeno.
  15. Bummer, I was just starting to like Benson. Besides that would leave the Mets with an absence of pornstar wives.
  16. The seven largest metro areas are New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, Miami & Washington (although then Washington, DC would have two teams so we'll give a team to metro area #8 - Houston).
  17. ]Need seven more Easy. The seven largest metropolitain areas in the US compete seperately from the rest of their states. The biggest cities are bigger than the smallest states and you got to imagine that upstate New Yorkers would love it if their team knocked-out the New York City team.
  18. But she looked pretty hot in those glasses and with her hair in a bun.
  19. Johnny Dickshot wrote: . Anyway, it was a wonderful place to vacation growing up and today guests can stay in the same room where a young Frayed Knot beat an even younger Johnny Dickshot with a pillow, driving his head into a bedframe in an incident causing young JD five stitches. Wait a minute! Are you and Frayed Knot related? I know you two have the same surname, but I though that was just coincidence. As to Wagner, it would most appropriate if he entered the game to "Ride of the Valkyries."
  20. How can you post a picture of Ayako Kisa and have it not be this one?
  21. Glad I nabbed the last spot.
