  1. I think he's saying it becomes notable that the Mets have never had a no-hitter because they traded a guy who eventually had 7, whereas otherwise we might not notice it as much. I think that have great pitchers like Seaver and Gooden pitch superbly for the Mets and the fact that pitchers like Seaver and Gooden only got no-hitters for other teams adds to the mystery and aura.

On the one hand I think it's crazy that you'd be content that are team has not reached certain benchmarks of personal achievement. On the other hand it would be cool if a Met became the first to do something no one else has done like a 5 homer game or a 27 K performance or the most consecutive shutouts.

Just need some more color commentary for posterity and fun. I completely agree. Or at least, color and discussion along with PbP. Not to be a thread dick, but IGTs are the last thing I'll ever re-read on this forum. Just a mass of photoslop and play by play anymore. You're right, of course, but where did it all go wrong? OK, you two must be on an elite level far above the rest of us. Take a look at an IGT from exactly one year ago and tell me what makes it more glorious than today's.
  5. MFS62 wrote: ="Willets Point"]Why is an IGT like a urinal? If you have an answer for that, it would be a great addition to the Saturday riddle thread. Later Could it be because they both involve Flushing?
  6. How does Maine look today?
  7. That's all they ever were.
  8. Ya, I go for quality not quantity. And funny lines like Yancy pissing in an elevator.
  9. Why is an IGT like a urinal?
  10. ="SteveJRogers"]I don't know but this guy would make a cool avatar I've already called dibs.
  11. Is that the real Mark Prior, actually pitching and not on the DL?
  12. This whole season is kind of like sleeping in on a Saturday morning enjoying a good dream but worried your mom is going to come in and wake you up and tell you it's 1992.
  13. On the good karma side, first thing this morning I selected shuffle songs on my iPod and the 86 anthem "Lets Go Mets" came on first.

AIGGGGGGGGGGGGHHH! THE METS HAVE BEEN PLAYING OVER THEIR HEADS! THE COLLAPSE IS COMING!!! THE BRAVES WILL WIN THE EAST AGAIN!!! SC=uncertain
  15. And here I always thought there was a pro-Yankee bias what with the Yankees always being in the primetime slot for every playoff game and the constant Jeter sploogefest.
  16. Illuminate me, what does Seinfeld have to do with the Wrath of Khan?

  18. Here is Give it up for Endy. The mothballs are keeping it from evil internet moths.
  19. SteveJRogers wrote: Interestingly enough, 2000 marked our last September 1st date of being in first place, a half game in front of the Braves I remember that well. What a day it was. Then the Mets took a swan dive into the shitter.
  20. If you're going to keep criticizing that I wish you'd at least respond to one of my posts on the subject.
  21. I thought of several movies I like that would make a good pretentious list to show how cultured I am but figured instead to go with movies I've watched over and over and over again and still like: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory ( 1971 ) Young Frankenstein Monty Python and the Holy Grail Jaws Raiders of the Lost Ark The Right Stuff The Princess Bride Roger & Me Delicatessen Donnie Darko I left out Midnight Madness because even though I watched it over and over I don't think I ever thought it was good (damned HBO). Honorable mention to Party Girl for helping me choose my career path. I know I'm forgetting something.
  22. S--t! Zambrano's pitching, we'll never win. Wait Glavine's pitching too. Two Mets pitchers pitching the same night!!! And we still can't win. SC=ludicrous
