  1. The main reason I don't see Japanese league players being inducted is because the official name is the National Baseball Hall of Fame which implies that it is the Hall of Fame for this nation alone. Thus only players who are from the US or play in the US are going to be inducted.

  3. Crazy idea, but why not negotiate to re-sign Glavine and Traschel for the bullpen. They're no longer effective in long outings so letting them pitch only 1-2 innings at a time would be the best way to take advantage of their strengths. Actually, it occurs to me that if Pedro isn't able to fully recover from his injury to be an effective starter, he would make an excellent closer. Of course, dealing with the egos and the $'s makes the idea pretty pointless.

  5. Not a mockumentary actually, but still largely improvised. I like movies where Eugene Levy gets to be funny instead of stupid.
  6. This actually would make a good offseason pastime.
  7. It's ridiculous. It's not even funny.
  8. Chip in. Crane Pool Forum station has a nice ring to it.
  9. You can never have to many old, injured guys on the bench. Or in the rotation for that matter.
  10. Several years ago Juan Gonzalez (ca. 2000?) was on the free agent market and the topic of much heated speculation in regards to where he's sign with many Mets fans hoping, some even expecting he'd end up in Queens. Someone - was it Johnny Dickshot in an earlier incarnation? - posted on the old Mets Online Forum (the MOFo) a thread that began "Juan Signs!" It was a big fake out because the text in the thread was an offer to purchase some signs the poster had made in support of Juan.
  11. Nothing will ever top "Juan Signs."
  12. They better have the postseason games on MLB.com if they're going to do this.
  13. My guess is that Doug blames the failure of his marriage on A-Rod.

  15. Edgy, don't you think that's a little immature? A grown-up says "dcolletage".
  16. The movie theater nearest where I live managed to fit the entire title of this movie on the marquee which cracks me up.
  17. Wow jb, you should submit that.
  18. Historically, all games played on foot were called football as opposed to more aristocratic games which were played on horseback, so the term has nothing to do with playing with one's feet. Different countries/cultures have codified different rules of football - association football, American football, Gaelic football, Australian-rules football, Canadian football, rugby - but they're all "football."
  19. What the hell are they doing in Italy?
  20. Edgy DC wrote: Yes, in retrospect, the Mets coming up short had little to do with their pitching staff being pinched by the rainout. I dunno about that. John Maine's short start in Game 2 left the barn doors open for Mota & Wagner to blow the game and Glavine struggled to hold the early lead in Game 5. Both those games were totally winnable for the Mets and a slight nudge in their advantage may have made the difference. The nudge could have come from a fuller, more rested rotation. Of course if the offense could have gotten a freakin' hit with men on base in Game 7 that would have helped too.
  21. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=horseshave horseshave isn't defined yet. OK all you neologists, time to come up with a definition for horseshave! OE: Why the hell isn't html working for links this week?!
  22. Did you edit this thread title? At first I thought it said "After the horseshave left the barn" and I was trying to figure out what a "horseshave" was. Whatever it is it doesn't sound pleasant for the horse.
  23. I'm more concerned about his connections to Gadhafi.
  24. You have to be a famous handsome dude who looks good in pricey clothing. Wright and Reyes fit the bill. And the clothing.
