That's 45-27 the rest of the way. I wouldn't say that today is the season yet, but it certainly doesn't get easier with a loss. I'd say they'd have to win both this weekend.
  2. Wright 4Piazza 3Benson 2Beltran 1
  3. Glavine 6Wright 4
  4. New York Mets traded Armando Benitez to the New York Yankees for Jason Anderson, Ryan Bicondoa and Anderson Garcia on July 16, 2003.Ah, yes. A great day indeed.Anderson is back with the Yankees; he was one of five pitchers in yesterday's 17-1 laugher:PitchersIPHRERBBSOHRPC-STERA
  5. Huh?!? Weird. Looks bogus to me, and you're under no obligation to protect anyone's first amendment rights. I'd say dump it.
  6. No, Valadius was Dracula. No, wait... that was Vlad the Impaler. Whatever. Welcome!
  7. Okay, I'll say it. He's not a Hall of Famer. He'll get in, but he shouldn't be there until the Andre Dawsons of the world get the proper love.
  8. Whoah indeed. That's a disturbing story.
  9. Huge DP for Bert, then Reyes takes one off the fingernail on his right hand (thanks for the bloody closeups, FSNY), but it looks like he's going to wrap it and stay in the game.
  10. HIs middle name is Cooby! What a bizarre coincidence!
  11. And I betcha Manny Hernandez will slowly rise up the charts. I had to look him up; I was surprised to see him be such a recent Met (1989), but yet I have zero recollection of him.His only Met appearance was pitching the sixth inning, striking out one, on September 16, 1989. Keith Hernandez played first that day, and Sid Fernandez started (and got shellacked), making that decidedly the Most "Ernandezy" Day in Mets history.
  12. Surprised? Me neither.(Or, if you prefer, Steve George pretending to be Al Leiter.)
  13. Because Harry Potter is a bigger offensive threat than Mike Piazza right now.
  14. I probably would have been in that percentage, whatever it is. In fact, when Piazza came up, I started scanning b-r.com, looking at his career GIDP numbers. (Which are ugly, by the way.)
  15. I distinctly remember that (although I wouldn't have been able to remember the name of the page now without seeing that article) during the game. I tried to go to the website right away, as my notebook was right in front of me, but it was mobbed, as the article says. I quickly x'ed out of the window in case it really was some moron promoting their porn site or something.Low blow by Chevy and Fox.
  16. Yates is out for the year, I think. Roberts is not in the Mets' system any longer, and Orber might be hurt also.
  17. I know it's just one game, but...If Beltran (4-for-4) is heating up...and if Mikey (monster, old Mike, the other way, wow home run) is heating up...and David Wright is suddenly playing Gold Glove defense and whacking the ball all over the park......could this be the start?(I know - the rest of the lineup today other than those three guys is 0-for-15. But I can dream.)
  18. Who is this guy and what did he do to the Mike Piazza we've seen all year?!?!
  19. DAVID WRIGHT!
  20. Hey! Piazza GIDP'ed! That never happens!
  21. Neither did the Yanks. According to Torre on M&MD, Wang woke up Monday morning sore; he called his agent, who called Cashman, and that was that.
  22. ]For instance, the Dominican pitcher Pedro Martnez regularly refers to Floyd as "papaya head" and Floyd for some reason does not take offense. Japanese second baseman Kazuo Matsui greets outfielder Mike Cameron with "What's up?" and Jay Horwitz, the vice president for media relations, with "Shalom."Awesome. I'm referring to Cliff as "Papaya Head" from now on.
  23. I'd rather see Hudson and Hampton than the two youngsters.
  24. I'll take Colorado and the Nationals (all of 'em - keep it consistent).

    TRADED

Frayed Knot wrote:Twas Kotsay that just inked the 3-year ext. Both he and Byrnes were rumored to the MFYs.That's right. My bad. I was wondering why none of the trade stories mentioned that.
