  4. It is not a stadium for Pete but it's mostly about the money I've been going under the assumption that Stearns does not want Pete back and failing an intervention by Cohen he goes elsewhere Sure feels like it to me at this point Washington Nationals sign free agent 1st basemen Josh Bell and another market falls away The Mets gave an obscene, almost irresponsible amount of money to Soto and now they nickel and dime a lifelong Met and current face of the franchise Grow some balls Stearns and sign the guy
  5. Rod Gaspar felt he had screwed up his career? I just thought he was a marginal big leaguer and probably knew it
  6. You could make one of Cleon Jones and put it in the back of a van
  7. I believe the potential destinations for Pete are dwindling My not so magic 8 ball says 3/90 somewhere Not a terrible deal for Pete considering the next contract he signs could be for one year
  8. I sincerely hope Pete doesn't get left in the cold like Mike Conforto did It's starting to feel a bit chilly
  9. #2 is 4 I almost forget they won 100 in 1988 #5 Anthony Young?
  10. They are going to try Holmes as a starter In this day and age he doesn't have to be a horse to be effective in that role I am accepting the idea that Stearns doesn't offer lengthy big money contracts to starting pitchers, Corbin Burnes will likely be an example of that I will defer to Stearns given his track record, for now anyway
  11. The King of Cool
  12. They can have him. Doubt he gets beyond 70-80 innings
  13. Wow, 1969 guy Don't recall much about him as a player Rough year for sure
  14. Passan says 3 years for 75 million Yeah!!
  15. He took some great at bats as a Met Very sad
  16. Another David Stearns special. Reyes was very top shelf at one time. Maybe he can get healthy at Syracuse
  17. I'd better learn to like Canning. He may be a backend starter on opening day Personally, I don't think Stearns sees value in expensive starting pitching adds There aren't too many guys that consistently give six innings in a start and those guys, like Corbin Burnes maybe, are getting top dollar If he had his way Stearns might be ok with 162 bullpen games
  18. Pete likely has two, maybe three years production left as we know him He will likely not find the longer term deal he is seeking and would likely sign something acceptable to himself and the Mets I'm happy to have him back. Pete could turn out to be the "value" contract of the off season Juan Soto is on his fourth organization at age 26 which makes me wonder about him at least a little Without Pete's postseason homer 2024 lose much of t's touchy feely goodness, at least mine anyway I'd sign him off that. He also bleeds blue similarly to a guy who is having his number retired this summer Make it so
  19. We need a pitcher not a hairy Montas itcher Seriously, the Mets have plenty of talent to get something done here or elsewhere. They just do
  20. I think we need a top line starter before Bregman If Frankie Montas and what we see as a rotation today I would believe us to be screwed I believe Pete will be back, just a hunch
  21. Siri has the inside track in my book. I don't think he is as good as Bader but he does homer more often
  22. I'd like a commemorative pin when Soto gets caught with a hooker in Queens. That could never happen, right?
  23. Very happy for Davis. It will be nice to see him back at the stadium to celebrate and DH
  24. Surprised he never became a Yankee. He was a Kansas City Athletic Great talent
  25. I'm ok with Marte at DH. Better than at RF right Personally I believe there will be another big signing of an SP for the Metsies Dodgers signed Conforto
