    Fboy and I took in some AAA baseball today so we were also able to witness a Mets win (9-3 here). Better yet, the local promotion of the day was to give fans a chance to play catch on the field after the game. We brought our mitts and had a catch. It was great. We got in the car just in time to listen to the pen come apart in the 8th. I turned it off, came home and went to bed, hoping that my napping power would propel the Mets to victory. And, so, you're welcome.

    Had a 6 PM gig a bit out of town, so I listened to the first 3 innings at home (because I don't get WPIX because fuck WPIX) and then in the vehicle on XM. Based on how those innings went I was not confident. My mother in law attended my gig and gave me Mets updates as I was playing.

    The last two strikes were both swings on bad pitches so he had some help. But we'll take it. Hopefully it helps to right him mentally. He had the good stuff. He's just got to get out of his own head.

    Fboy and I watched the last half of this game and were pretty pleased by the outcome. I went to bed as soon as the game ended. (Aside: should I still be calling him Fboy? He's 19 and about to start his sophomore year of college.)

Ever batter is an engagement. I agree with every bit of this. I am watching less Mets baseball than I have in a long time and a big part of it is that I find their continued collective approach at the plate utterly baffling and maddening.

    There's a big difference between embracing mediocrity and adjusting to it. I want these fuckers to win, same as I have every year since they last won the WS (I was 13, for reference). I don't find anything endearing about being a bad or not good baseball team. Shit hurts me in my brain and my organs.
