1. From your list, here are the entries where all of the members were born in the States (to my knowledge): The Allman Brothers Creedence Clearwater Revival The Doors Big Brother & The Holding Co. with Janis Joplin Simon & Garfunkel Bob Dylan Jefferson Airplane Sly & the Family Stone Blood, Sweat & Tears So, from this batch, yeah, I put peak 1970s Aerosmith up against all of them, sure. Like KC, I can still listen to selections from the 2 radio friendly albums in the 80's, there are some good riffs in those records.
2. Oh, come on. Even if you don't put them at the top, to say that Aerosmith and the Eagles aren't even top THIRTY means you're not even on the same planet. I'm positive that I can, in good faith, come up with a credible list of 30 classic rock bands that I would easily prefer to listen to ahead of Aerosmith and The Eagles. Not in any particular order: The Beatles The Rolling Stones Led Zeppelin The Who Pink Floyd The Allman Brothers Traffic Cream Blind Faith Derek & The Dominoes Jeff Beck Group with Rod Stewart The Yardbirds Jethro Tull Creedence Clearwater Revival The Doors Big Brother & The Holding Co. with Janis Joplin Simon & Garfunkel The Jimi Hendrix Experience Bob Dylan The Kinks The Band Jefferson Airplane Buffalo Springfield The Byrds Crosby, Stills and Nash (and Young, too) Neil Young Sly & the Family Stone The Monkees Blood, Sweat & Tears Donovan I made this list in less than four minutes. And I barely had to crack 1968. And I left out the whole Motown stable, which I love and got regular airplay on the classic rock radio stations I grew up listening to, and were all mostly active in 1968. I take it back. Those two bands wouldn't make my top 75! You missed the qualifier there. Nearly all of those bands are made up of folks who are not from the USA. I do put the Allmans, the Doors and CCR in that same rare air, among American bands. And ironically, despite the fact that the Band is often credited with inventing the "Americana" sound, only Levon Helm of that group was not Canadian. And, yes, naturally, fuck the Eagles with a giant iron stick.
3. Is Aerosmith the United States' all time greatest classic rock band? I think they may be.
4. Ugh, the O-man walks in a run. I feel like maybe that's the first time all season that a Mets pitcher has walked in a run with the bases loaded? I cannot hardly recall it happening previously.
5. Whiffed and forgot there was a game. Plus I was napping on the couch at my office, like the suburban hobo that you all know me to be. Seems like I didn't miss much.
6. Invariably I can go and find my own name and laugh at my own anatomy jokes of the past. =Fman99] May 03 2012 07:30 PM Re: Mets Mall I appreciate any girl who's showing off her triangle, iron or otherwise. Wait, what?
7. It was awesome. Fboy and I listened to the last several innings with baited breath. We hugged when it ended. We watched not a moment of it. There were two coincidences at play here in my own personal life that I found noteworthy. For the second time, I enjoyed Howie Rose with the radio call. Despite the fact that I absorb most Mets content visually, in 2012 I was at a poker game and listening to Johan's performance on XM. This past weekend we moved, and had no FIOS, because Verizon fucked the install scheduling up royally (I still don't have Internet at home yet). So once again, it was a radio call for me. It reminded me of another momentous game, the June 30, 2000 Mets v Braves game, where the Mets came from down 8-2 to win on the Mike Piazza home run. I missed that one entirely, also, as it also happened on a day I moved. Another coincidence.
8. The Hot Corner wrote: Well, this definitely shows how much things have changed with the current Cohen ownership era vs. the Wilpon era Mets. No way in hell, the Wilpons would have ate that salary. They almost assuredly would have optioned Guillorme or Davis, or possibly released Jankowski outright. It's great to have an ownership that makes decisions based on actual baseball considerations rather than financial ones. This
9. Down four runs that's a stupid play to get thrown out at 2B as the leadoff guy. OE: Challenging the call
10. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Zimmo! Let's find out which position player on the Cardinals is their best pitcher I hope Matz goes four more innings, personally. That shot of him muttering as he walks off the mound is the Matz I know. Not today. Looks like Matz is suddenly on pace to get the Win today. Still lots of time for his patented "take a big shit on the mound."
11. Dangit
12. I still want YFM to fall off of a cliff into a sewage tank.
13. Carrasco giving up mostly bloops here and letting the Cards hang around. I hope Matz goes four more innings, personally. That shot of him muttering as he walks off the mound is the Matz I know.
14. Cheap run there. I think Davis got in Lindor's way and otherwise he gets to that bleeder that was hit #1.
15. Ugh. Once again, I prefer to see McNeil in the batting order as opposed to Guillorme. As mentioned yesterday in episode 43 of your favorite Mets podcast, Mets On Tap ! Featuring Ceetar, Seawolf and I Nimmo CF Marte RF Lindor SS Alonso 1B Escobar DH Canha LF Davis 3B Guillorme 2B Nido C
16. Todd Zeile is a clear downgrade from Darling or Hernandez, I know he's trying but he's not particularly insightful or interesting up there.
17. Yah, mostly that last point. They are stupid looking.
18. I prefer the Aerosmith version of Train Kept a Rollin personally. For old covers, though, have a bit of this. I'm thinking of adding this to my own set list. OE: Realized after the fact that I conflated the Yardbirds and the Animals there. Don't care, though, you should listen to that anyway because it's great.
19. What an ending, holy cow. I went to bed when it was 2-0 and checked in on my tablet, in bed, and did happen to see the Dom Smith hit. So there you go.
20. What the hell is a 7:45 PM start? I assumed it was 8:10 and missed the first inning and a half. Stupid Cardinals.
21. For the second straight day, SNY app was not showing the broadcast. Yesterday they tweeted out an apology and said they're working on it. No mention of it today. So that's some crapola. I had to endure the Arizona broadcast team for two days. They're pretty bad.
