  1. https://twitter.com/jonheyman/status/1524782790180581377 With a special jersey for him that has a giant hole between the '2' and the '4', for the fork sticking out of his back.
  2. Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooks! And six minutes to spare before my late afternoon meating.
  3. I have a 4 pm work call so I am hoping Diaz can get these last 2 outs here before then.
  4. Listening only, as I am at work today, but apparently the Nats just made two outs at 3rd on the same play? Dopes.

Who? 2nd year lefty for Anaheim (10th overall draft pick out of U Louisville in 2020) no-hit the Rays last night on the left coast A 6th inning walk (erased on a GiDP) and a 7th inning error prevented the perfecto. 1 walk; only 2 Ks; 108 pitches; 2:19 And then Syndergaard puts some dumb ass thing on social media about this being a "real no hitter," as opposed to the Mets combined one. Hey Thor - here's a thought. Go eat a bag of dicks.
  6. Boooooks!
  7. Sharp baserunning there by Lindor to get to 2B on the missed cutoff throw by Soto.
  8. Good game so far. Liked seeing McNeil and McCann with the key hit (error?) and sac fly.
  9. Interesting. The whole "we're not gonna have a personal catcher" argument has a little less heft if he sucks rocks every time he pitches to McCann, as he did yesterday.
  10. My brother got his PhD at Rutgers and every time I went to visit him in NJ I either got stuck eternally in traffic or I got a parking ticket. So, fuck New Jersey.
  11. I thought the sculptor's answers were reasonable and sensible. Am I missing something, or is this not a big deal at all? Me, I think it's a huge deal, but yes, the sculptor was extremely honest about the whole thing. But your mileage may vary. I wish my life was simple enough that anything even remotely close to this counted as a "huge deal."
  12. Willets Point wrote: I read a book called Soccernomics and one of the things they tested was the conventional wisdom that the largest demographic of fans were the diehards who supported the same football club their entire lives. They found in reality that the vast majority of fans attending games and watching on tv changed their allegiance at least once over the course of their lifetimes. I suspect the same holds true for American sports fans. And in a multi-team city like New York there is a sizable block of people who root for all of their hometown teams. These concepts are wholly alien and inconceivable to me. Change teams? Root for more than one team? What kind of chicanery is that?
  13. I'm not concerned about any one player just yet. It's early. The guys who have sucked the most have found the IL or a ticket out of town, which is how it should be. In more dickish news, I saw a guy wearing a Phillies shirt at the Syracuse Mets game this past Saturday and asked him which hurt his feelings more - the no hitter or the 6 run comeback. He replied the latter. He seemed pretty genial about it, but this was also on my way out of the stadium and with a head full of sweet, sweet Saranac brewery products.
  14. My new residence is actually also in the town of Clay, though Corbin attended Cicero-North Syracuse High School and not the high school (Liverpool) that my kids attend. CNS vs Liverpool is one of the big rivalries locally as both districts are quite populous (I think each school graduates 600-800 kids per year), compared to other smaller suburban districts. It was a big deal when my son's volleyball team beat CNS HS for the sectional volleyball championship this past winter as it had been 15+ years since that had happened. In other news, the three pitchers' lines for Washington this week: Today: Corbin (0-5, 7.16 ERA) Tomorrow: Sanchez (1-2, 8.56) Thurs: Adon (1-5, 6.99)
  15. The no hitter didn't ruin his career, Reed Johnson mashing his ankle on a play covering first did.
  16. Enjoyed game 2 yesterday more than game 1. Wasn't IGT'ing it because we were and are continuing to try and get unpacked and settled in. The new house is great and better yet, my wife and I switched TVs based on the new layout, and now I have a 65" screen mounted on the wall from which I can keep tabs on the Metsies.

  18. Sunny and 65 in the Cuse today - at least one CPFer is catching a Mets game
  19. But I want Mets baseball BOOOOO
  20. Relive this from every angle. Here's Howie with the radio call. Another superb call - the greatness of our team is only matched by the energy of our broadcasters.
  21. There are few things more enjoyable to me than watching utterly dejected Phillies fans in the seats, incredulous that their pen could blow a lead like that.
  22. What an amazing comeback. All thanks to Aerosmith, I think we can agree.
  23. We missed most of this game because we were busy but picked it up when it was 7-3 in the 9th. Just in time for the good stuff.
