  1. Glavine: 5.0 Wright: 2.0 Jacobs: 1.5 Paizza: 1.5
  2. Art Howe. I also like the way Casey makes both the bestest and worstest polls-- sorta like the Miami Dolphins recently cracking the top five for best and worst uniforms in the NFL
  3. Count me in-- at the time of his hand injury, Mike was second in the bigs among catchers in HR/RBI.
  4. 15 wins 200+ innings 200+ K's I'm OK with him missing his last two turns--
  5. A series win will go along ways to our avoiding a sub-.500 season, and may even extricate us from the cellar. A series loss essentially guarantees both a losing record and another last place finish.
  6. ]Anyone have any insight on that? Specifically, how he uses his pitchers, how often he goes to the bench and in what situations, etc. Granted, he hasn't had much to work with on Tampa Bay's staff, but didn't he consider starting his relievers and letting them pitch 2 innings each, since they were more effective than his 5-inning starters? Not sure if that answers your question, but you don't expect to see that kind of tactic in the big leagues.

  8. ]Cleveland threatens to sweep by taking a 6-3 lead in the 7th Actually, Oakland won the first game of that series.

    Pedro K/9

Alarming-- how do these stack up with his numbers in years past?
  10. Piazza: 3 Diaz: 2.5 Matsui: 2 Heilman:2.5
  11. ]Matsui is aflame. not that there's anything wrong with that
  12. Am i the only one on the Jeff Keppinger bandwagon? He's hit ML pitching--Lambin and Anderson have not.
  13. they changed that about ten years ago (not sure if that's true, just trying to placate the old man)
  14. As a frosh, i had classes T, W, TH-- five day weekends everyweek-- BIG mistake
  15. Val-- instead of scoreboard watching, shouldn't you be studying (or in class?) it's mid-day Thursday, dude. j/k
  16. Fork us... all season I told myself two things: 1.We're capable of a hot-streak (and in the tepid NL that could mean a playoff berth) 2. The early Septemeber trip to Florida, Atlanta, and St.Louis would prolly decide our fate How nice, I thought, if points 1 and 2 would coincide...ah well, such is life (or as ZVON would say--thats baseball!)
  17. nobody, but nobody, runs on Yadier Molina-- Cards have surrendered something like 25 steals all year-- it'll be interesting to see how Reyes et al do against him.
  18. owwww ........my aching head.
  19. Lastings Milledge??
  20. Isringhausen?
  21. While I think we all agree with Zvon's point that it's better to have our hearts broken in September than realize we suck in May, my question is: Would you rather see your playoff chances die at the hands of the hated Braves (again) or at the hands of a spoiler (read: D-Rays v. Yanks and Mariners v. Oakland)?

    Cheat.

]Do over come next April. Is this another one of those sentence diagramming exercises?
  23. Wonder how Kris Benson feels about this... oh, wait: Kris Benson recently said, "Maybe he'll finally be fired before that," referring to McClendon and this series. This could be some bulletin board material or a prelude to a beaning. It could also be a prelude to an actual dismissal of McClendon, I dont know.
