  2. Wow-- thanks, Irish-- never saw that piece. cool stuff
  3. ]Our goal is to put together the best team possible for the New York fans. I wish he'd have ended it with "best team possible". Agreed that the NY Times did a better, more robust piece.

  5. I believe, for every drop of rain that falls, A flower grows... I believe that somewhere in the darkest night, A candle glows... I believe for everyone who goes astray, Someone will come, to show the way, I believe, I believe... I believe, above the storm the smallest prayer, Will still be heard... I believe, that someone in the great somewhere, Hears every word... Everytime I hear a newborn baby cry, Or touch a leaf, or see the sky, Then I know why, I believe! 6. ]the only person who smiled more consistently than Mookie was Mr. Met. A fitting tribute-- that should be his epitaph. Honestly, I think Mookie would really appreciate that.
  7. I don't see Heritage nights anywhere-- they're off the schedule here in San Francisco too-- replaced by Mr. Potato Heads (cool) and Giants-A's wives Softball game (cooler-- reminiscent of Family Day at Shea) I'm sure the Giants will add them-- they've been a great draw. And Until There's A Cure Day is a poignant ceremony too-- hope they add that back.

    #42

I thought there was an image of Lima with a #99 jersey? What if he wanted to wear #41, because he had in the past? No deal, right, because the Mets had retired that number-- well, they retired 42 also. Pick another number, Jose.
  10. Someone tell John Harper that a 25 pitch session does not a savior make.
  11. Jeff Kepinger: fifth best 2B prospect in system?
  12. How 'bout Man Ram (still hoping it doesn't happen)
  13. 1B Scott Hatteberg to Cincinnatti -- 1 year, 750K
  14. Being "pro-life" (and really, it's being anti-choice) is not the same as being "pro-family". I'm far more concerned about the rights of those who are here than those who may be-- we should worry less about the unborn and more about the neglected.
  15. ]he's pro-family, Whatcha talkin' 'bout, Willis? The families he's saved with his war or those he saved via his assault on social programs/education?
  16. What's worse??: Bret's slamming of Val (on his birthday!) or Val posting this in the first place (on his birthday!!)
  17. Hey Annie (or anyone else who might know)-- is: Making Airwaves: 60 Years of Milo's Microphone" any good? I see he trashes Harry Caray and larry Dierker in it.
  18. I think I should withdraw . I'll be out of the country for all of July and August, with little internet connectivity. While NYMR (I believe) suggested I put my team on autopilot, I think that ruins something of the competition-- trades, roster moves, trash talking, accustaions of collusion, etc. Sorry for the late notice-- I'm sure it won't be a problem finding a replacement. Cheers,
  19. which lefty or lefties will rise to the top and possibly break camp with the team. Darren Oliver. The we can complain about how retreads block young phenoms.
  20. Two of their affiliates are also known as the "Devil Rays"... and then there's the AA Montgomery Biscuits. Really.
  21. Darren Bragg: BOSOX Spring training Non-Roster Invitee
  22. All glove, no stick... and it only applied to the infield, since I can't judge flyballs. I remember my first LL at-bat. I hit a loooong fly down the LF line that just went foul-- I had even run to 1B-- My hulking coach slapped me bottom in encouragement--"attaboy,tiger" or somesuch (i was pretty scrawny)-- I returned to the box, with tears welling in my eyes from the sting in my hands (and on my bottom)-- struck out on the next pitch (prolly above my head, since I never saw it through the tears) I often wondered how my life would've been different had that ball stayed fair and I homered in my first little league at bat.
  23. ]Kenny Coward will return as the strength and conditioning coach. With a name like that he better be into strength and conditioning.
