  1. FWIW, Casey is a Pittsburgh native.
  2. Dave Magadan... HOF Robin Roberts, and,,, the prize for toughest kid in middle-school: DICK COX
  3. Or someone give me a block or a shape and Ill create it within it. How's about a diamond?
  4. 12/3/74G'bye Tug McGraw, 'ello John Stoins.
  5. From today's SF Chronicle Bruce Jenkins...Three Dot Lounge... "Omar Minaya is the game's most dynamic desision -maker, and the Mets are burying the storied Yankees in the battle for NY headlines. Minaya has simply gone crazy, delightfully so, with the Mets formidable resources. He bought in one of the game's great power hitters, Carlos Delgado, then reliever Billy Wagner, who was throwing 100-mph darts for Philadelphia in September. Determined to work a deal with the Red SOx in light of Manny Ramirez's clearly stated desire to be traded Minaya is making a relentless pitch for that potential Hall-of-Famer. If we were to draw up a pay-to-see list of players right now, it would include Delgado, whose compact swing has been an awe-inspring sight over the years. Wagner would be an automatic, his dominance of left-handed hitters often bordering on the absurd. Third baseman David Wright cemented his spot, in SF last sseason, when he nearly cleared the LF bleachers with a titanic homerum in his first at-bat, then cleverly pushed a situational off-field single the second time around. SS jose reyes, teh first player on a NY team to lead his league in SB since Willie Mays (1957) is pure electricity. Carlos Beltran may have been a disappointment last year, but his five-tool package remains a treasure. Cliff Floyd is second only to Barry Bonds with his left-handed bat speed on inside pitches. And Pedro martinez is absolutely the best show among all starting pitchers in either league."
  6. Hector Carrasco to ANgels: 2 years $6.1 million Nats get weaker and Berto gets happier (Carrasco, 36, was an impressive 5-4 2.04 setting up Chad Cordero in DC last season)
  7. Five pitchers in double-digit wins and a sixth (Zambrano) just missing the cut... of course, there's more than a few with double-digit losses projected, too!

Bucs win, grabbing (should be) HOF Blyleven and Milner... Rangers do well with Scoop and Matlack
  9. Hearing Kiner butcher Grudzy's name makes it worthwhile.
  10. Johnny Dickshot wrote: "But for the fact they were 26-year-old O's closers, Benitez isn;t even a fair comparison to Julio." NY Post wrote: "Julio gets himself in trouble when he tries to overthrow. As a result, he loses his release point and his control." Sounds eerily similar to me.
  11. I was close: Lefty Only One (and then) Gone
  12. It's taken me months to ask this, but try as I might I can't figure it out: What the hell's a LOOGY?
  13. Knowing Omar, he'll make us wait until Three Kings Day.
  14. Me thinks Beane will trade one of his other starters for a bat-- or import Piazza.
  15. With Loiaza's departure, another NL East foe gets weaker. Muhahhahahahahahahahaha
  16. Esteban Loiaza to Oakland: 3 years $21 Million
  17. ZVON-- Check out the Museum of Television and Radio-- they have lots of old sports broadcasts-- complete with the the old commercials (cigs and booze most of em)
  18. The Mets said hello to Eddie Murray and goodbye to Rico Brogna and Tommie Agee.
  19. That'd be great, NYMR-- if you need an additional owner to flesh out the league, count me in!
  20. I'd be interested, but it looks like my job is going to take me out-of-the country for eight weeks next summer, with limited internet access.
  21. That Belliard play gets my vote-- just sick.
  22. Damn-- not even a "please" or "fell free to..." tsk tsk
  23. It also seems like the Mets gave up more in that prior firesale than other participants: Preston Wilson and AJ Burnett outshine most of the other names (discount Piazza since he ws only there a brief while)-- Derrek lee for sure, but who else?? This is either a reflection of bad Met GMing or a really deep farm system on our behalf.
