1. If you set aside the eye-rolling urge aside... it's at least mildly interesting. They simulate entire series between these bit-players-- '70s squads and '80s powerhouses separated by just a few years, Josh Gibson- and Satchel Paige-led teams laying waste to major leaguers, a bunch of playoff near-misses and regular-season-leviathans who went belly up in short series... it's frighteningly detailed, too.
2. We watched Young Frankenstein the other day. Is it sacrilege to suggest that it's something of a museum piece at this point? It's painstakingly crafted, obviously, and what's funny is great, but it's MUCH slower and more airless than I remember it being.
3. FINALLY caught it myself. Extremely on-brand, it is. Also, long. The acting-- where the actors were allowed to, like, talk a bunch and stuff (sorry, Margot!)-- was superb, though, and some of the set pieces had a real buzz.
4. Unrelated it'd be interesting to see a NEW movie/comic/hero franchise to take off from the villain standpoint. Like have a Joker movie that's less origin story and more him terrorizing Gotham in the years prior to Batman becoming Batman, in fact, he's the impetus for BECOMING Batman.... The Joker had his own comic book, for a brief run in 1975-76 --- the only villain in the DC universe to be given that treatment. [FIMG=666]https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/91JJ69oCEnL.jpg[/FIMG] … to that point. Post-antihero '90s, everybody got their own books, provided they could be the center of something appropriately "gritty." The '90s were all about that grit. Gritty heroes, gritty antiheroes, gritty parodies. So much grit, you'd think you went to the beach and started woodworking using money you made selling kiddie-pyramid-scheme newspapers. (Some later Joker series and mini-series were actually damn good.) Is that Dick Giordano or Neal Adams art? Looks like one of the two.
5. Jesus, that's terrifying. She's, like, 30.
6. Well, yeah. This shit's throwing off the appropriateness-radars of some seasoned life-vets... never mind the I-get-all-the-life-experience-I-need-from-CoD-allnighters set. (By way of underlining my point, I'm not sure that MOST here have acknowledged that, btw.)
7. He's coming off like an asshole-- because, y'know, education and all-about-the-memes expression emphasis, and all... and he's kind of an asshole, to boot-- but he has a real, absolutely-legitimate point. The owners are essentially trying to renege on contracts. And contrary to capitalist bullstink, they absolutely are NOT taking "all the risk." What you're seeing here is a pandemic edition of the typical boo-the-millionaires-keeping-baseball-from-you, as-brought-to-you-by-the-billionaires shtick.
8. HE REALLY LIGHTS UP AN INTENSIVE-CARE ROOM Sorry; I had to get it out.
9. =batmagadanleadoff post_id=36663 time=1589086994 user_id=68] Ricky Bottalico? One of these things is not like the others.
10. Nobody's quite sure what happened to Kenneth West, but we're pretty sure he's betting on something, somewhere. And that he's got the same haircut, only with a bit more lebensraum for the survivors. Kind of funny that the one guy who's arguing against the importance of a manager in composing a winning team is, like, a manager. Like a guy who a ways from the hole, I'm going with one Wood.

The realignment and the elimination of the American and National Leagues. Expansion of the playoffs. Expansion of rosters. Banning reporters from the clubhouse. All things that will be hastened by a Covid-shadowed season, whether it's this year or next. Yyyyyep. It'll be like the sporting equivalent of these random immigration restrictions/industry subsidies the federal government is shoehorning into COVID-19 relief bills and such.
12. Hey-wait-he-was-on-that-team is, like, our brand, at least as much as "starting pitching" and almost as much as "great big-head mascot."
13. KIA starter Drew Gagnon is putting guys on and being sold out by his terrible infield defense, and Mickey Callaway is on TV looking affable and a little confused. This seems... Hyoorees-familiar.
14. ONE OF THE TWO, OBVIOUSLY
15. I rooted for an opposite-field single that drove in two runs and a sharp double play in the same half-inning this morning, so I guess my team is well-played baseball. NC DINOS 4 LYYYYYYF (c. 5/4/2020)
16. Which team plays out of Pusan? Lotte Giants.
17. GAAAAAAAAAAWdammit, I need to read better
18. Think about how many seasons have been delayed/derailed by purely monetary issues. Here, we've got those AND the crazy nest of public-health/familial considerations. I'm... not optimistic.

Among the American KBO-gnoscenti, the LG Twins appear to be the consensus most Metly: second-place in their own town/stadium to the reigning champion/current league power Doosan Bears in Seoul; last championship in 1994, but oh-so-close a few times; mostly disappointing... but with a rabid fanbase that travels well. They're also loaded with arms, apparently, including Americans Casey Kelley and Trevor Wilson. I think I like the idea of going alternate-universe with this, and picking a team that ain't nearly so neat a Korean correlate for our guys.
20. Worst case? You could just go with this pick-your-team randomizer GIF.
21. Considering how unexpectedly excited I found myself regarding the A-Rod/J-Lo rumors, I can't say for sure I wouldn't prefer the Hospital For Special Surgery Mets.
22. The Kiwoom (erstwhile Nexen) Heroes, based in Seoul, seem to be another prime contender for my affections. They're the only team not owned by a large multinational corporation... but https://twitter.com/MyKBO/status/1255992517654274048/photo/3their primary stockholder is in jail for fraud. (Also, they play in a dome that looks like an ashtray you bought at the MoMA Store, and have a wicked-good 3-4-5 in Junghoo Lee, Byungho Park, and Haseong Kim.)
23. It's a good thing it ain't brought to you by White Castle. I feel like these guys generally have a bit of trouble with the slider.
24. No cheerleaders/cheer managers/mascots? If anything, you think they'd be even more essential... [puts on gravitas-loaded voiceover vox] in times like these. The Dinos' mascots break dance. IN THE SUITS.
25. Hey, I'm not the only one! The Lions pitcher Baek has a Zito-y thing going on, between the wiffle-ball curve and the well-located junk besides.
