  1. 90 games for trafficking seems awfully weak...
  2. i'm going on sunday. i hope we get there early enough to snag a pair of cool hats!
  3. prior to sheffields midafternoon vocal diahrrea, i considered this a fair trade on paper with the mets gaining the bat they need to really add credibility and depth to their lineup while giving up outfield defense that they have plenty of. on the yankees end it seems like they're not making out as well, as while cammy does provide a huge benefit defensively, trading him straightup for sheff doesnt prevent tony womack from taking an outfield spot.then i read/heard about the inclusion of cairo in the deal, which makes me like it less, as i consider him a valuale part of our bench, and tipping the scales to the yankees favor in terms of fairness of trade.then there are the stories of the mets getting fleeced for cammy, diaz, and maybe even a pitcher or something, for sheff and womack. and, while this makes for a much better trade for the yankees, it makes for a much worse trade for the mets.and then of course theres the fact that, and lets just pretend its a straight up, or cammy+cairo deal, a) while i hate facing him, i don't like sheffield either, and even happy, he'd ruin the chemistry by taking away at least as much as cammy added, b) his verbal diahreea cinches teh bad chemistry thingy, and makes this trade extremely distasteful on that level alone, c) if we're trading cammy, i'd prefer that it be for a 1b, opening a slot for diaz in the outfield and improving teh club twofold, d) i really really like our outfield defense, and while the additional offense is noce, the outfield D actually gives me joy - gary sheffields glove would do no such thing e) it'd be a no-win situation as the papers would invartiably find a way to pan the mets' side of things, unless by some miracle, sheff managed to drive home the winning run in game 7 of the WS f) have i mentioned his verbal diahrrea? cos i think it was just his head spilling over.i'd much rather go to war with this team as constructed, than with this team reconstructed so as to include gary sheffield.

  5. who says he can't play third base! wow, nice play by wright!
  6. note to willie:don't choke your ace!!!!!
  7. "other shortstops don't like children, or animals"brilliant!
  8. ]]Because John Franco and Al Leiter are gone (a blessing, most Mets fans will say) which means there aren't any real New Yorkers as major players left in this series.Well, besides Roberto Hernandez, Carl Pavano (New Britian, CT representin'), and John Flaherty, there's the managers of both teams coming from Brooklyn, which used to matter to the likes of you before you got so bored but still had to file a story, poor guy.Oh, and then there's Alex Freakin Rodriguez!and jeter was born in freakin' pequannock! don't be dissin' jersey!
  9. david wright is a better third baseman this year than that Arod guy...
  10. single yaddas exist, but are rarely seen in nature. its harder to make little yaddas when they're alone like that...
  11. is there no market for cliff floyd? i'd rather see him traded and replaced by diaz than cammy...
  12. horace p. osterdonk?
  13. sorry... the fan revolt thing was not an indication of my dislike for a cammy/cano trade, merely a side comment. i dont think that fan reaction should be a primary driving factor in transtactions. i think the "also" occluded that a bit.i find myself more skeptical of yankee prospects than other prospects, typically. which is why at first blush i say i want a little bit more than just cano. like, maybe a middling prospect - idk. but i wouldnt be terribly UNhappy with a cammy/cano trade, except that i like cammy, and it would be sad to see him playing in pinstripes. but if we could do no better than cano, from the myriad other teams who could perhaps use a hot-hitting GG CFer, then i'd likely be happy with cano.i'd be happier with floyd for cano, but im not so sure that makes any sense whatsoever for the yanks... (well, it gets womack out of the outfield, and gives them an upgrade at leftfield while womack slides back to second.... but not as much an upgrade as cammy going into center)
  14. i'd be fairly happy with cameron for cano and a little bit of something else. but i'm not sure what that is. i tend to greatly undervalue yankee prospects.also, i can only imagine the fan revolt that would happen if we traded our good outfielder for a yankee prospect turmed bust (always a risk when trading for prospects). cano & wang for cammy, i'd prolly do in a flash - i think the yanks are undervaluing wang, and even if we don't need him, we could still use him in an other trade somewhere.

  16. ="Edgy DC"]How perfect that the Yankees (1) have a stadium concept that includes a faade that is purely image and has nothing to do with the infrastructure behind it, and (2) has an open raised concourse inside the faade that allows the Yankee fan, for $49, to stroll in the Bronx, without having to, you know, stroll in the Bronx -- perched elitely above it all.Leave it to them to turn the freaking complex into a gated community.ding! we have a winner!

    @#$%

i got in the habit of, before hitting the [submit] button, selecting the contents of an extra-long post and hitting [ctrl-c] just to make sure if anything happens, and the electrons get lost, i can just re-reply, and then paste my words back.granted, this doesnt work if the whole computer breaks... but its still better than nothing.
  18. it'd be kinda cool if they were able to design a modern stadium with an exterior that is somewhat evocative of good ol' ebbets. but in a totally modern, new, non-retro kind of way.i dont want a ford mustang kind of stadium.
  19. wow. milwaukee got an awful lot for spivey...
  20. petit, heilman, seo, and keppinger?all for adam dunn?i think that's a bit of overpayment...
