  3. yes. i think it helps if you boil every single thing down to a matter of blacks vs. whites, rich vs. poor, or democrat vs republicans, wherein the one side, whichever it is, exists purely and solely to crush the other, by dint of its pure evilness. hank aaron, selfish? i don't buy it. hank aaron saying fuck you to bonds? yeah, that i'll buy. i wonder, if i lied on my resume and applied to usc to take a position that the esteemed "notorious phd" had his eye on, and he knew it, would he just shut up and shake my hand, or would he fight it? do i even have to wonder? bonds = hip hop? please. that would be like if tiger woods' kid grew up and decided to turn into a rapper. where's his cred? bonds had it made, clean, and THEN he decided to turn dirty. he didnt need to. he wasn't forced into it because his daddy left his momma when he was still in the crib and the only way outta tha damn hood was to sell drugs to pay his way. i'm actually a bit surprised that the professor didnt call hank aaron a racist because he doesn't support bonds. i mean, he did pull the "hank should support barry 'cos they're both black" bullshit, which is bad enough. i don't stand by every white fool, and hank shouldn't stand by every black fool. and neither should the professor, but i don't think its in his best financial interest to agree with me.
  4. i wanna give milledge and green some glove love, but i just can't... i am looking into a tweak to my formula that'd do just such a thing, but i wanna see how it'd affect my voting so far before i do just such a thing. basically i'm starting to look at LOB's a bit more harshly, and non-linearly so. the difference between leaving 1 on base and 2 on base is less than between leaving 3 on base and 4. also, i need to be giving more credit for saves, and for excellent glovework. we'll see what i come up with...

  15. i'd almost like to see a 6-man rotation once petey comes back, giving him, glavine, and duque the rest they all could likely use.
  16. my take on the trade is that the mets are concerned that an everyday gotay will become overexposed like we saw happen to endy chavez, and luis castillo can finally give us some consistency in the two-hole, perhaps preventing teams from simply electing not to pitch to reyes, and also gives us the opportunity to move milledge down into a more run-producing spot in the order. on the whole, i'm lukewarm over the trade. i'd like to see what gotay can really do, and whether or not he can be a 'second baseman of the future' for us. his bat so far says maybe yes, while his glove says maybe no. i guess a pennant chase is not the best time to figure these things out?
  17. damnit, where the hell is that skate key? yance, do you mind holding off on the pittsburgh loss until this afternoon when i can get to winding up poor, underutilized m.e.t.b.o.t.? should be about 1 or so.
  18. this year and last year, beltran has a higher zone rating than hunter. this year, beltran has a whopping two errors to hunter's one. last year, hunter had four, beltran only two. um, lets see... how exactly is hunter a better centerfielder?
  19. OlerudOwned wrote: ="sharpie"]I like his defense at second base. I suspect Gotay will still get the odd start and that Easley'll mostly be a backup outfielder. Zone rating actually puts Castillo toward the bottom of the AL in defense at second base, which would fit in with many Twins fans opinion that he tends to give minimal effort in the field. I'm hoping that by taking him off the killer turf and throwing him into a pennant race will light a bit o' fire under his ass. a fast turf could conceivably depress his zone rating... maybe.
