  2. (might only display for a few days).
  3. Emma Stone comedy where one innocent lie makes her life and reputation spiral out of control.

Imagine what would have happened had a gotten a cease & desist letter back then.No he wouldn't. If he recorded on blank audio tape, then he cannot be charged with copyright infringement. Not to mention the "time shifting" rule that come into effect when VCRs became popular.
  5. Surprisingly good film. Witty, and used the animation well. The minions were delightful.
  6. Nice concept, poorly executed. It didn't help that the previews gave away the most important twist. It's inferior in every way to the similarly themed Despicable Me, doing what Chuck Jones used to call "radio with pictures" instead of using the animation with any imagination at all. The opening, pre-credit sequence is up there as the most unnecessary piece of film ever projected. It said nothing that couldn't have been picked up later, and did it with a tiring voice over narration (did they not see Up to show how to do that right?): 1M-vN6tbNxY
  7. Pretty good, especially if you ignore the clunkiness of the concept. They managed to keep all the needed exposition (and a lot was needed) to palatable chunks. Loved the ending, especially because people are going crazy trying to figure it out. But it doesn't matter if it was the lady or the tiger - I mean, if the top fell or not. The ending was delightfully ambiguous and I loved that. Anyway, the falling top meant nothing - he could dream it fell, too. Biggest flaw was the section in the snow - you couldn't tell who was who.
  8. We once shared a table of contents with his only published SF story. I loved his performance in Son of Dracula.. And I love his "You're Breaking My Heart" and many of the songs of Son of Schmillson (and album that oddly parallels Elton John's Honkey Chateau.
  9. I'm picking up good vibrations from him.
  10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1V_DiRi6c0. I can't tell if it was meant to be a parody of these things, or the douchebaggery of Phillies fans has reached a whole new level.
  11. Moe Berg -- Columbia Eddie Collins -- Columbia Barry Larkin -- Columbia Additional players from Columbia Red Rolfe -- Dartmouth
  12. Howard wore a Mets uniform, too.

IIRC, you dropped a marble down the chute and into the cannon in center field, and the other player would press a button or something to swing a bat (you can see it to the left of home plate). If you made contact, there were rules for scoring. In other words, MVP baseball without the computer. We were more simply amused back then.
  14. Probably designed by Fr. Guido Sarducci. "If you could be any kind of animal, which would it be?"
  15. Though one of these is strictly for The Birds -- if there's a Hitch. Now that's a six pack that I'd like to pound. they're probably like 80+ now. Here's Tippi Hedren four years ago:

  18. They remade this? Who played Keith Moon?
  19. She's sort of like Oliver Perez: no matter how much you want her to go, she keeps coming back.
  20. I thought I'd start out with this: Scary, right? Anything scarier?
  21. Wow. Staub didn't start? Why on Earth did Berra use Hahn in his place, even granting right vs. lefty? Staub also just put the team into the series, with 3 HRs and 5 RBIs in the divisional series.

  24. While it's true Mays hit only .211 in 1972, their regular CF, Don Hahn, hit only .229. So using Mays was not a big drop off. Mays also had three times the number of home runs, a better OBP (.303 vs. .285), better slugging (.344 vs .290), and a better OPS+ (81 vs. 76). Mays was certainly near the end of the road -- and he knew it -- but the Mets didn't have anyone better. If Hahn had gotten Mays's ABs, the team would not have won the pennant. (And Dave Schneck and Rich Chiles, the other center fielders for the team that year, made Hahn look like Mays in his prime. Jim Gosger had a higher BA than all of them, but his OPS was worse than Mays, too.) This also doesn't factor in that Mays was a box office draw, deteriorating skills or not. Mays was a reasonable choice to stay with the team This wasn't a case of Mays hanging on too long. It was a team that needed him resigning him because he would draw fans and would be better than any of their other options.
  25. Though one of these is strictly for The Birds -- if there's a Hitch.
