1. I made it.
2. October 1, 1961. Yogi Berra and Carl Yastrzemski were the only HOFers playing, though Mickey Mantle and Whitey Ford were on the roster.
3. Four HRs in a game made this happen.

5. Edgy MD wrote: Brian Keith was likely not of Welsh ancestry. He was the son of actor Robert Keith, who was born Rolland Keith Richey and adopted Robert Keith as a stage name. Richey most likely suggests Irish ancestry. Brian Keith's stepmother was Peg Entwistle, the actress famous for committing suicide by jumping off the Hollywood Sign Mr. Obscure Facts
6. Terry Leach. Just happen to look him up.
7. I stopped following the Mets in the 90s. The local newspaper only had AP stories, and the TV stations favored the MFYs. I got back into it in 1999 with the Internet, but from about 1990-1998, I didn't pay much attention.
8. He seemed very upset last year that he couldn't play for the team this year. Once he needed the TJ surgery, he seemed regretful, since it meant his Mets career was likely over.
9. The Binghamton Rumble Ponies will be changing their name (for two games) to the Bathtub Donkeys in response to an obscure NYS law. https://www.si.com/mlb/mets-minor-league-team-adopting-new-team-name-obscure-donkey-lawhttps://www.si.com/mlb/mets-minor-league-team-adopting-new-team-name-obscure-donkey-law
10. I will say the sour grapes by MFY fans are a wonder to behold. Funny they didn't object to him last week.
11. Keep him. Anyone who pisses off Derek Jeter can't be bad.
12. Because the "odds" are not mathematical odds. They are the results of a simulation. Garbage in, garbage out.
13. Was Jack"Hairbredth Harry" pitching? Hamilton was the team's closer in 1966. He'd come in with a lead and allow just enough runs (usually by walks) to keep the lead, usually by ending things with a strikeout. Hamilton was traded to the Angels the next year, where he threw the pitch that ended Tony Conigliaro's career.
14. The fans stuck with Andrew Young... But it was clear that DeGrom had poor run support and a bullpen that couldn't hold a lead. Even without modern analytics, it was clear his won-lost record did not reflect how well he pitched.
15. Schrodinger's ballgame! Is the game alive or dead? But Norman Rockwell has it covered. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/ca/Norman_Rockwell_-_Tough_Call.jpg>

18. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Maybe it's Boswell? Not Boswell. But not Kooz, either. It's Rod Gaspar. Definitely! In "Who the hell is Ron Gaspar?"
19. No surprise. With Alvarez playing the way he had, Sanchez was 4th on the depth chart with little chance of being called up. Nido will be gone when Narvaez comes off the IL.
20. This is insurance. Nido is out of options. Once Navaez returns, there's a chance he'll be lost. His hitting is pathetic, but he's considered a good defender, so another team may snatch him up. They'll need someone at Syracuse who can be called up if Navaez or Alvarez gets hurt. Sanchez has caught in the majors (not well, but still), so he's worth keeping just in case. None of the other AAA catchers look like they can hit (they're not hitting in the minors).
21. =ashie62 post_id=123679 time=1682634561 user_id=90] One of the very first Mets I remember. Jack Fisher and Jack Hamilton also Traded for Don Bosch. Man was Bosch hyped and unfairly so
22. =MFS62 post_id=60315 time=1618072205 user_id=60] So, now he can walk? And talk? Later
23. Seemed like a nice guy, but when Pete came along, there was no place for him to play. I remember him best when someone had a walk-off hit. Dom was injured and used a scooter for one leg and came onto the field to join the celebration.
24. He was the last lockdown Mets closer until Diaz. Familia came close, but Wagner nearly always cam through.
