  1. Mets look old and cranky in the first.
  2. Ya know, these long, long term deals don't usually work out. Stanton signs a 13-year deal and in the first season spends more than half of it on the disabled list. Think the Angels would like to get out of the back half of the Pujols contract and the Nats aren't having second thoughts about the Scherzer deal? Harper's young and good, but he's also displayed a propensity for injury. He's got a body type that just screams nagging muscle pulls down the line. Yes, let the Nats or Yanks back up the Brinks truck for him.
  3. This has been very rare in a Subway Series, but I looked at those two lineups and said, "Damn, ours is better than theirs".
  4. Nice little Fishies beating Nats 6-2 in the 6th. Just keep swimming, just keep swimming.......
  5. Look, it's the Joba Chamberlain DUI Growth Chart!
  6. Pretty easy to pick these guys out of a lineup.
  7. Yeah, I love the "Fuck you, Fuck you!" guy, because he's just shouting it out to no one in particular. The player can't hear it. It was probably the most exercise that Sopranos extra had had in years.
  8. I wish we could just get this all over and go straight to the postseason.
  9. You know the type. By day, he's a counter clerk at AutoZone. He'll make sure you get the right wipers for your car and recommend that you rotate your tires more frequently. But in the evening, rather than taking his steady girl Angie out for a nice little dinner at Applebee's, he squanders all his spare money to buy front-row bleacher seats, downs 4 or 5 $11 Bud Lights, and then he morphs into this guy:
  10. Marlins better play the Nats as tough as they played the Mets.
  11. Can't waste Good Bartolo, Need to stop popping up and start driving the ball.
  12. Lose the NLCS. Whoever comes out of the Central will win.
  13. Someone's going to be dumb enough to give him an 8-year/$240 million contract. I'm comfortable knowing that team won't be the Mets. Power is down in the majors and Cespedes is hitting like McGwire and Sosa in their chemical prime. The man's going to get paid, and handsomely. 6/$120 is a pipe dream.
  14. How'd they get Lupica's head through the door?
  15. Farmer Ted wrote: Washington Post: Jayson Werth: I think at the end of the season well look back and look at it as an opportunity wasted Hope when he's looking back, he has a mirror.
  16. Benjamin Grimm wrote: That's my thought about the Cubs too. I probably fear Pittsburgh more than any other potential second-round opponent. This. But in one game, the pitcher I fear most is Jake Arrietta. He'll go against the Pirates and hopefully knock them off. The rest of their pitching staff doesn't scare me that much (0-7 aside). Having the 2 of the 3 best NL teams eliminated early is a nice quirk in the playoffs, if the Mets can take advantage.
  17. Yeah, while it's house money, I'd like to see at least one series victory, just to prove they belonged.
  18. Cespedes didn't do a thing last night, the bum. Trade his ass.
  19. Both Gary and Keith have said it....the Marlins aren't mailing it in right now, which is their way of inferring that the Braves and Phils ARE mailing it in.
  20. deGrom could use a few extra days of rest before his next start. He's simply not sharp right now. It's certainly doable. Syndergaard looked dynamite after skipping a turn. Playoff schedule will help him. Harvey, they're piggybacking Verrett. It'll be interesting to see how that goes with a real major league team like the Yankees as the opposition. Colon, no inning or eating limits. Matz just needs work to round into form (hopefully not Bartolo's form). Duda, unless there's another injury, you have to keep running him out there so he can get his timing back. Wright looks like he might be getting his stroke back. Spot starts for Uribe every few games and he'll be fine. Wilmer/Tejada/Johnson rotation seems to be working, as does the Conforto/Cespedes/Lagares rotation. Coach Cuddy available to back up first and spell Grandy against the occasional lefty. There's no real LOOGY in the pen, which is a concern. O'Farterty not doing it. Alvarez hurt. Gilmartin not suited to the role. But if that's the biggest problem they have I can live with it. Worry-meter set to minimal.
  21. Well, let's hope they got that out of their system and flushed it down that porcelain appliance.
  22. Cespedes stepping on his foot looked intentional. Just saying.
