  3. Local boy, went to Westfield, NJ High School and Rutgers. Not a great manager, but he inherited a team in free-fall. Even so, he didn't seem to be able to alter the tailspin much. Says that he has Parkinson's which is a bummer.
  4. Bland, but palatable. Won't be missed in the 2016 recipe.
  5. Just like Fred to hire a dead game show host to distract us from Cespedes.. "Dumb Dora was soooooh dumb, she left her porcupine brooch in Derek Jeter's ___________"

  7. Okay, got that taken care of. Long live the Jiggling Belly.
  8. After seeing Pete Rose on Fox Sports this postseason, I want him banned from everything.
  9. Well that backup 1B guy should be a righty. So Ike will have to alibi elsewhere.
  10. Had nothing against Cuddyer the person, but hated the performance of Cuddyer the player, and hated that he cost too much as well as a draft pick.. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if Coach Cuddy became Bench Coach Cuddy or Third Base Coach Cuddy.
  11. Well, better d'ArPlaw at first than Eric Campbell Part II. I would favor Travis over there- he's had his bell rung a few times and I think he needs some time away from the grind behind the plate.

The more I hear/see of Sister Christian over here, the more I think we dodged, like, a demon in human drag type bullet. #NoGuaranteedFourthYearForDaemonConsorts Yeah, she's creeping me out. Neil Walker-remarkably devoid of creepiness.
  13. He'll always be born on the day the Mets won the 1986 World Series. Hated the inconsistency; he could look great for a couple of innings, but then a bad play would be made behind him and he'd huff and puff on the mound and let things snowball. Signed a team-friendly contract when they really needed it. And I guess in the end he wasn't so bad, but I'm not crushed to see him go.
  14. Bit of a head-scratcher, unless they know more about the WilmerRuben injuries than they're letting on (which would be typical Mets). Well, the infield's got more pop than it did yesterday anyway. Wonder if Wilmer is the supersub or trade bait at this point, though.
  15. Would just like to know what the deal is with Montero. He was The Next Big Thing and just fell off the table. Is he hurt? Mentally unbalanced? Cursed? He was a control guy with a good fastball that came up and walked the ballpark, and never seems to have fully recovered.
  16. Yeah, it's a perfect match. I'm not sure how good Wheeler will be when he gets back, and if Bartolo can do next year what he did this year, that's all they need. Throw in a gift card to McDonald's and you're done.

John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I'm a little concerned at reports indicating Cabrera sucks at defense, considering I'd also found mention of Pirates fans fed up with Walker's slow first step and lack of range, which if both are true sort of undermine a theme of my offseason plan to make the Mets better up-the-middle. Tejada I think has to go at this point. I've been waiting for the Mets to trade him forever, but this time he has to, yes? I'm thinking Wilmer's more likely to go in a trade. Tejada has little to no trade value, whereas Wilmer could bring something back in return. Tejada's proven he can back up 2B/SS/3B adequately, but won't bring any stick. And on a harsher note, trading Flores in the offseason means we don't have to see him cry.
  18. I'm OK with this. Walker's solid, and there's no long-term commitment. Niese was expendable.
  19. Yuge talent, but I don't think the Metsies have the pieces to get it done.
  20. His wife doesn't appear particularly hot. So, no.
  21. If they don't give up too much I'd be for this. Walker's a solid player, and it's only a year, so Herrera gets to work his way in.
  22. A Boy Named Seo wrote: I'm not terribly unhappy with this development. Same here. And re-signing Muffy is not the answer. I'd rather they see what they've got in Herrera and sign Kelly Johnson as insurance. Or go big and shuffle the deck in SS/CF/1B. They've got tradeable pieces. And yeah, STFU.
  23. Frayed Knot wrote: Straight-up swap: Cards deal Jon Jay to the Padres for Hugo Black OK, just looking to see if anyone was paying attention, it's actually Jay for Jedd Gyorko Wow. Supreme Court humor.
  24. Whoa. Don't take her to a Devils game in the off-season.
