    Not just let everybody have a giveaway, have BETTER giveaways. The Mets have the lamest giveaways of any team (Especially since most of the cost is paid for by, say, Gold's Horseradish or some other sponsor) Re-do the Rotunda. No offense to Jackie Robinson, but that should be a Mets-centric entrance. That it's not is a Wilpon-thing that must be purged. Jackie can be honored somewhere else, just not at the main entrance. Oh, and bring back bullpen carts.

    Well, is there any prohibition on Conforto playing RF? His arm is certainly better than Granderson's. All a moot point anyway. They'll add a Raburn/Pierce type and a bullpen arm and they'll be done for the winter, I'd expect.

    Well, I'm betting the Braves will be happy to trade him to the Mets again if we need him at the trade deadline. The homer off of Strasburg was awesome. It jarred him and led to Matt Williams pulling him too early for Storen.

    Neutral. I don't think they're done yet. They haven't done anything mindbogglingly stupid which, for an team that has Jeff Wilpon in its org chart, is a bonus.

    It was a better move than Zobrist for 4 years. Cleared the path for Big Sexy to come back. Gives Dilson Herrera a year to watch and learn. And Walker's a solid player who'll be playing for a big contract. A good move.

    Indifferent. I know it's the market, but I'm not sure a guy coming off multiple broken arms will be worth it.

    Like it. They needed to do it and the $50K Silver Slugger bonus is awesome.

    I'm this way and that way. He's an improvement in that it pushes Tejada to backup and Flores to supersub. It doesn't really block middle infield talent bubbling up from below unless you're a Matt Reynolds fanboy. It moves the chess pieces around a little. I'm not crazy about it, but I can live with it. Now if, as it looks right now anyway, this is the big move of the offseason, then that's a problem. In the abstract, it's a good move, but there are other things that need to be done as well.

    They're not Bob Murphy, true. They're a LOT more entertaining. I couldn't bear the thought of losing any of them. Keith will sign eventually. The suits at SNY know that not signing him would be a PR disaster. This isn't Bob Ojeda we're talking about here.

    So YOU were the guy! And since we were speaking of Chris Carlin, I've often seen him buying bagels in Fanwood so I'm guessing he's a local, too. But last I heard, Jeff Torborg had fled the bright lights and hurly-burly of Westfield for the relative quiet of....Mountainside.
