  1. Gotta do something about those lines at Shake Shack. And there's that whole Rotunda thing.
  2. Well, between signing Cespedes and 2+ feet of snow, there's only one beer that'll do.....
  3. Wow. Wasn't even paying attention to Mets news with the snow. Bought a Cespedes World Series shirsey on a lark when Modell's was clearing them out for 5 bucks. Turned out to be a good investment. It's just so weird seeing the Mets behave like a real major league team.....

  5. No. This team is still where they were last year prior to the deadline. Good pitching, weak hitting. Prior to July 31 they were a slightly over .500 team. I can see that happening again, only this time there won't be someone to hit 17 home runs in 41 games.
  6. If the Mets don't get Cespedes, they don't sweep the Nats 6 games in August/Sept. That was the season right there. Not just Cespedes himself, but how he made everybody in the lineup around him better, too. Without him the offense is better, but not great. He vanished in the World Series and so did the Mets offense.
  7. Well, it's a two year deal, so we're guaranteed to get one of the good years.
  8. Filled a need that needed filling. A RH OF and Sandy's probably done. And no, that RH OF is not Yo, it's either Pierce or Raburn. Not saying that's how I would have played the offseason, just the way I see it playing out.
  9. Yes-Pedes is kind of the story of their season when you think about it.
  10. I despise the DH. It's artificial baseball. You may as well play with two outfielders if you want more offense. The players union wants more jobs, not necessarily more DH's, Eliminate the DH and expand rosters to 26 or 27 players.

RealityChuck wrote: I don't care for the DH, but since most pitchers never get a chance to bat in college and the minors (Matt Harve had 25 PAs, Degrom 34, and Syndergaard, 47), it's unfair to have their first experience in the batter's box against major league pitching. Well, eliminate the DH in the minors, too. Problem solved.
  12. When he hits his first home run, then we can talk. To paraphrase Shakespeare, I like yon outfielders with a lean and hungry look
  13. Jeez, if Cespedes crawls back to the Mets for a short-term deal, Sandy should get a gold star. And a raise. My fear with Yo was that a long-term deal would make him fat and complacent, plus we'd be paying for him when he was 35 or so. Short-term deal, he's motivated, and he's younger. Still think someone else will swoop in and steal him away, though.
  14. Yeah, I just don't see what the attraction is for a one-year deal (great for us, but I digress). What if he has a bad year or is injured? He's blown $90 million. If I'm Yo, I don't take that chance. If he doesn't get a big payday off the year he just had, he'll never get one.
  15. Please. This isn't even a choice if you're him (and his agent). Security is numero uno. Orioles.
  16. Re the Orioles: Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reported that the offer is in the five-year, $75 million to $90 million range. If true (a big if), that's $15-$18mm AAV, which is a lot lower than you'd expect. While I wouldn't want him for 5 years, that's not a back-breaking deal for the O's by any stretch. If he's not coming back to the Mets, a non-Yankee AL East team is the ideal scenario.

  18. Adam Rubin, pissing in everyone's cornflakes: Adam Rubin ESPN Staff Writer From a second person in the know: The Mets maintain contact with Yoenis Cespedes' representatives about a short-term deal, but it is likely he gets a longer-term deal, or one with a higher average annual value, and signs elsewhere.
  19. Damn. Wilpons dodge another bullet.
  20. If he's willing to go shorter this will bring a lot of other teams into the mix. I'm pessimistic.
  21. Gerardo Parra to Rockies 3 years, $26 million. Well, SOMEBODY's getting traded from that outfield now.
  22. Well, even so, I'd buy the bullpen hovercraft and cruise slowly around my super-exclusive gated community.
