Yeah there's a lot of ways to say that something's untrue without coming off like a snotty prick like Trevor did. He may end up being a Met and a pretty good one, but I don't see any way this dude doesn't have another couple tantrums in him going forward. Like, this is how he acts when he's a free agent and everything's rosy and everyone is courting him?
  2. Snell and Darvish in the same rotation will certainly be interesting.
  3. Not conceding the division to the Dodgers, that's for sure. Padres' farm is so deep they can pull off a trade like this. They're going to be a fun team to watch next year.
  4. =G-Fafif post_id=52817 time=1609106659 user_id=55] Cano has hit two homers in the Winter League opener today.
  5. Wonder where La Potencia himself will wind up. Barring any porcine problems, of course.
  6. Edgy MD wrote: I never respected how Kirk cheated on the Tomoyuki Sugano exam. Lets hope we can avoid 'no-win scenarios'.
  7. This honestly makes no sense. McNeil should play second. Davis should play third or be traded. I wonder if they're just upping the ante for the Yankees, who actually need him.
  8. =smg58 post_id=52608 time=1608644749 user_id=62] A .294/.337/.430 career line, $71M in earnings, and a ring. Not Hall-worthy, but I'd take it happily.
  9. New Jersey is not undefended as the MFY's have moved their AA Hessians northward from Trenton to Somerset, much closer to New York.
  10. Yeah the Bible verse in his signature gives us an idea what we're in for. He's gonna make Nimmo look like an atheist. Mark 10:27 And Jesus, looking upon them, said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.” What he should say is "With more money than God, all things are possible." If anyone's offended by the blasphemy, you can delete this. But I have a very low tolerance for God-botherers.
  11. Already purging him from my memory banks.
  12. Rockies make a ridiculous deal and want Sugar Daddy Steve to clean up their mess.
  13. My last Tomoyuki Sugano got terrible gas mileage.
  14. Really, this isn't that hard. Have a fan poll and then pick the name you want anyway. But get it done early so that the marketing and apparel people can get to work. The Washington screwup was predictable because Dan Snyder is a dipstick. Next up, the Braves and that repulsive Tomahawk Chop.
  15. OK, they got their GM. Now go get me Springer +.
  16. Why didn't he pitch in '20? COVID? Fear of COVID? Lack of interest? Zipper accident? Always liked him but don't expect much.
  17. I wonder if they have virtual hookers hanging around in the virtual lobby.
  18. Just hope he's not a Jung-Ho Kang type. How do you say "That boy had issues" in Korean?
  19. This isn't rotisserie baseball. You're not going to get Springer and Realmuto and Bauer and every other free agent. Even though Cohen technically has unlimited money to spend, he's also got a few owners who are wary of a New York owner spending unlimited money. Steve himself said that he would not be spending like an inebriated mariner, and he wants to be a member in good standing of the boys club. So while we want everything we're not going to get everything. I'm not crazy about any catcher on a super-long deal. Even Mike Piazza broke down toward the end and he might be the greatest hitting catcher ever. I'm OK with McCann on a shorter deal. He's not Realmuto, but he's not Tomas Nido either.
  20. Well, there's different ways to stay out of the way. If you're front and center at all the baseball fan-friendly stuff and keep your nose mostly out of personnel decisions, then okay. The Wilpons wanted nothing to do with the paying customers but meddled constantly in personnel decisions. Cohen hopefully is the exact opposite. He seems to love fan interaction, and hopefully stays out of player selection.
  21. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Matz pisses me off. If he weren't an Omar-era draftee and native Long Islander he'd have been the one to go and not Wheeler. I'd have traded him five times already. Destined I think to be a Brave and pitch really well against the Mets but also, lose plenty of 4-run leads against shit teams and sing country gospel This. I don't think he'll ever put it together as a Met, but once he leaves he'll kill them.
  22. Hey, it's Steve's money. I tend to think most of Matz's problems are between his ears.
  23. I went to the old Exhibition Stadium back in the late 70's, which was a converted football stadium. Kind of a dump but in a great location by the CN Tower.
  24. Celebrating a dead person isn't normally how I'd vote, but that retro Newsday cover is awesome.
