  1. Not that I really care one way or the other, but I have a feeling he's going to be better than everyone thinks...
  2. I think Malekith is just a means to an end, whereby Loki is still the main villain...
  3. I see your point - the trailer doesn't really show Malekith...
  4. I've added a poll to this... New trailer - I'm really looking forward to this [youtube:l7bx7ri4]npvJ9FTgZbM[/youtube:l7bx7ri4]
  5. I believe Spitter was referring to Gordon-Levitt playing Robin. IIRC, Bale said he would never have anything to do with a Batman movie that involved Robin.
  6. That's just it. I LOVE every Star Trek movie, too. I overlooked everything (minus the annoying lens flares) of the first rebooted movie, because I loved the way each character was portrayed by the new cast. I join you in your certified geekdom. I couldn't wait for this movie to come out - you didn't let me down, JJ Abrams did. I could see where this is a passable popcorn action flick, but it's Star Trek. It's supposed to be better than that. It's supposed to be more cerebral than a popcorn action flick. This was Star Wars with Starfleet uniforms.
  7. I thought this movie was a steaming pile of crap. When I read Vic's review, it made me want to make sure I hadn't lost my mind - this is the first movie that his view has differed so much from mine. My final take was to compare it to The Avengers; Joss Whedon's love of the material showed through in almost every scene in that movie. In this movie, JJ Abrams' lack of love for the material showed through nearly as much.

  11. I kept looking for "Trading Places" - not included...

  13. While I had a few nits to pick, I think Captain America is better than Thor. I think the pacing of the first half of the movie was much better than the second half. The second half felt a bit rushed, and I would have liked the main villain to be fleshed out a bit more. I also felt Tommy Lee Jones would have been a good casting choice for the colonel, 10 years ago. I was a bit distracted by his age and seeming weariness. I'm not really affected by the glut of SH movies - I ignored GL (I still think they should have cast Nathon Fillion there, but I digress...). I think that the Marvel movies should be taken as a package, they make winking nods to each other, and they are all leading up to next year's Avengers movie. and to reiterate, Hayley Atwell alone was worth the price of admission... One more thing, stay through the credits.

  16. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I thought the first Cars movie was cute, but not up to Pixar's standards. (At least it was better than Wall-E). Of all the movies to make a sequel to, I'm surprised that they chose Cars. (I'd prefer to see more of A Bug's Life or The Incredibles.) Cars 2 will be the first Pixar movie that I don't intend to see. It's easier for me to skip it because my kids are older and not asking to see it. My only regret is that in skipping Cars 2, I miss the Toy Story short that accompanies it. I'll have to make sure to track it down somewhere, eventually. This. I was extremely disappointed that this sequel was made instead of an Incredibles sequel. I guess it's all about merchandising...
  17. The trailers are just getting better... [youtube:axrg5mi7]DUUcOmgYEhY[/youtube:axrg5mi7]
  18. I finally saw this Saturday night, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I agree completely regarding Loki - he was easily the most dynamic character in the movie, but he just reminded me of Jeff Wilpon too much... I must admit to really looking forward to Captain America next month...
  19. Actually, it wasn't too bad. Yes, there were too many commercials, especially during the final 1/4 of the film, but the editing wasn't too bad.
  20. I'm sure this movie needs absolutely no introduction here. I saw this on AMC this morning, and was surprised that there wasn't already a poll
  21. Story regarding my uncle who just passed away: We were over my uncle's house one afternoon, and a commercial for Patton was on TV. I knew that my uncle did not like talking about his experiences in World War II, but I was curious to know what he thought of the movie. Was it historically accurate? did they really get things right? When I asked Uncle Art, he said that he never saw it. That he no interest in seeing it. I was curious. Why hadn't he ever watched it? "I hated the SOB when he was alive, I'm not about to watch a movie about him" OK. End of discussion...
  22. I really liked this movie. Unbelievable premise, but somehow Kevin Kline makes it work. He and Sigourney Weaver have some nice chemistry together. I must admit, I still crack up at the "I once caught a fish this big" scene... I have liked every Kevin Kline movie I've seen, as long as it didn't include a huge fucking spider*. *had to include a Kevin Smith reference here
  23. Oh God - Dinosaurs with eyelashes... Our oldest used to watch all of these over and over and over and over and over and over and over.....
  24. Willets Point wrote: One of my favorite movies of all time. There were times in my life when I could recite all the dialog. There was a demon that lived in the air.... Same here.
  25. My oldest saw HP at last night's midnight show, and said it was the best movie of the series.
