  1. Game delayed a bit by inclement weather, but we're underway with Carl Edwards, Jr. getting the start. Carson Benge leads off and whiffs. Release him NOW!!!!
  2. Ah, the Tecate/Corona rivalry. Hard to generate greater passions than when those two lock horns.
  3. I beg your pardon. I was not referring to you, but rather the room, as only one guy had responded, and even that response spoke more about the novelty of the consecutive numbers rather than the retirement itself.
  4. Not a lot of strong feelings here. Luis Robert is going to have a great first half, with 15 homers and a batting average around .280, and then he will disappear in the second half, with three homers. His final BA will slowly fall to .239, and his OBP will be sub-.300.
  5. A guy tells me that Kris Bryant was active in 2025, and my first instinct is to think I'm talking to a crazy person and to come up with a way to excuse myself.
  6. I figured Ozzie has enough homers and has been in division long enough to be in there, but I expected him to be scraping the bottom of the list. Unexpected to see him at number four — outhomering glandular cases like Marcell Ozuna and Kyle Schwarber.
  7. Fridays are great in spring, because that is when we do early evening games. The Nationals are starting Zack Littell, no known relation to Mark Littell, and the Mets are going with TBA, known relation to ****in' A. 8. That's a great point and I think we should retire your number for it.
  9. Stanton, Yellich, Ozuna. What an outfield that the Marlins were never going to keep together. Ozzie Albies has been doing it in division for the better part of a decade. Imma go Albies.
  10. Sure, they are all small sample sizes (some, like JY, are tiny), but collectively, they are less so, and that's good. In general, a guy winning a job on Spring Training numbers should always give one pause. I think, when teams do make a job decision in March, they more typically award such jobs based on round-the-clock analysis rather than in-game outcomes. I hope so, anyhow.
  11. It seems silly, and its amazing and telling that what should be a dramatic announcement gets an indifferent burial in this thread and scarcely any response.
  12. Like Marcus Semien before me, I'm not here so much because of my productivity ceiling. I have decent ceiling, like Marcus, but recent performance suggests that I'm not particularly likely to get up high enough to paint it. No, what I am here for — and again, I'm like Marcus in this regard — is that my defense controls my floor to an extent. Defense isn't as variable as offense from year to year, and my defense is ... well, it's my defense. It's what made a team go out and give up two live players for me (one named Acuna) after two years of brown liquid offense. That's what a couple of young guys and $20 million by you these days — a good but hard-to-reach ceiling and a floor that is hard to crash through. That's what me with a ladder in a room looks like. What does my 2026 look like? Picture me in that room, on that ladder. What do you see? 13. Is it his Jaredness or his Youth that makes you so afraid of including Jared Young in this conversation? Because JY has nailed up .250 / .462 / .625 // 1.087 in a meager eight trips plateward. Vidal Brujan and Ji Hwan Bae are also pounding at what surely seems like a very closed door from their perspective.
  14. Four seasons in the NL East should be more than enough to get Matt Olson in the money.
  15. I'll toss out Josh Bell. He comes and goes from the division. Some years he's a power hitter and other years not so much. If he gets one or two of those years to line up, then maybe.
  16. Pure luck. I was trying to remember Mike DeJean's name and couldn't. Frustrated by the brainlock, I threw Reed up there, because he's kind of like DeJean. As soon as I hit submit, of course, my brain unlocked and I remembered DeJean. I was going to switch him in, but didn't.
  17. Austin Riley.
  18. Steve Reed, Colorado Rockaways.
  19. Juan Soto. Duh.
  20. Holy **** that was a great guess. I hate you for it.
  21. Andrew McCutcheon. Not a lot of time in division, and not a lot of time at peak power, but a lot of time.

  23. I designate Gwreck as Quizmaster General at the new forum. Starting a new quiz without having wrapped up the last one is a boss move. Frederick Freeman.
