  1. I edited my post while you were responding. It's just, enough weaving semantic circles, please. You're smart. I understand. But any ocelot can tell I'm not asking about box office. Any black-capped chickadee knows I'm not asking about the datedness of the character. or dampen critical response already numbed by the genre? or simply lessen audience anticipation, however quantified? Give me a break already. It was the easiest question ever.
  2. Does the comic book movie glut affect of the impact of the Captain?

He'll have about 3 steals/3cs, while playing good, but not great CF - losing the speed he once had, but taking great routes to the balls to make up for it. Come trading deadline, we'll see him get traded along with Krod to anyone who'll give us a top middle infield prospect. the rest of his season numbers will be moot at that point, but he'll get into the post season, and once again hit 8 homeruns in the LCS leading to another huge payday. Pretty good job here by attgig. he'll hit just south of .300 .289. with 15 home runs Dead on. and 58 rbi's. 66 He'll have about 3 steals/3cs 3/0 while playing good, but not great CF - losing the speed he once had, but taking great routes to the balls to make up for it. Wrong on the position. More or less correct about the rest. Come trading deadline, we'll see him get traded along with Krod to anyone who'll give us a top middle infield prospect. He and the Rod are gone, but no infielders in hand. the rest of his season numbers will be moot at that point, but he'll get into the post season, and once again hit 8 homeruns in the LCS leading to another huge payday. Go, Giants!

  6. Do you say DEN Dekker or den DEKker? I do the former.
  7. Eric Gregg during a leaner period.
  8. Edgy DC wrote: Look how far down the line Willis is when Keith is fielding the ball. About seven feet. It was like Keith was allowed to make plays other players weren't even allowed to attempt, and our advantage at first during those middle-80s years would be hard to quantify. That he played with Jim Kaat on the Cards and Roger McDowell on the Mets must have made bunting a particularly pointless exercise when partnered with those two, who were lightning quick off the mound and had very little territory to cover that Keith didn't already have dibbs on.

  10. Best part about it was that teams still tried to bunt against the Mets --- Whitey, it seemed, as a point of pride. And Keith destroyed them for doing so.
  11. Long Island Press gushes over Cammie, mistakes Thole for a strong defensive catcher.
  12. 'Mazin. According to Bill James' calculations, Reyes has a 16% chance at 3,000 hits. Wright has a 23% chance. I may need to some re-calculating based on the partial season, however.
  13. Betting on the rich and powerful to stay so is always a safe bet.
  14. "Oh, Irving, that settlement offer you rejected.... it's off the table." The machinations of rich men. I wouldn't have the stomache for it.
  15. Strange stuff. After seemingly two months of therapy he could still barely lift his arm.
  16. Since May 21 --- a jerry-rigged, if not insignificant, period --- Daniel Murphy is tied with Adrian Gonzalez for most hits in MLB, according to Anthony DiComo
  17. Adam Rubin: "Mets will have a statement shortly about status of ownership negotiations with David Einhorn amidst reports other bidders now back involved."

  19. Mets reportedly bringing in Ray Bartoszek (a previous bidder) as competition for Einhorn. Bartoszek speaking earlier, as per Adam Rubin, as per the Times: Ray Bartoszek, who said he was informed by the Mets he came in second to David Einhorn for a minority share of the Mets, spoke with the Times about the process. Bartoszek said a counteroffer from the Mets to his original proposal did call for him to get a small share of SportsNet New York and also have a path to majority ownership of the team. As for what he has read of Einhorn's winning bid -- which contains an ability to increase his percentage to a majority share unless Fred Wilpon and family return his original investment and allow Einhorn to keep one-sixth of the team -- Bartoszek said: "Einhorn is a very successful guy and it seems to me that he must be smarter than all the rest of us because he figured out how to basically short this team as hes shorted a lot of stocks in the past. I wouldnt bet against him. Its just that I feel like its awkward, a trader taking on a position where he is rooting for the team to fail? I dont like that. I would not do that deal because I would not feel right about having that attitude every day I went to work. In essence, Einhorn benefits in the near future if the Wilpons' financial instability prevents them from blocking his option to up his stake. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/17/sports/baseball/a-bidder-sheds-light-on-mets-process.html?_r=2&ref=baseball
  20. I have no idea what they'll be doing this offseason. Top priority is shoring up, I think. But no, I think there are plenty of internal options at second.
  21. Just jumped up to fourth in the Eastern League in RBI. Fifth in total bases, second in OBP, and third in OPS (that last one behind two guys who've logged significantly fewer plate appearances). We're looking at an MVP candidate. Good adoption.
  22. 3-5, 2B, 2 R yestidday. The Bees are looking to win their third straight series and have Robert Carson taking the hill for them, but, seriously, some of youse adopt Satin and Dykstra. Those are the bats carrying this team.
  23. Gustavo Chacin may be new property of the Mets, but I'm going to guess the Redbirds still lead the nation in DWI arrests and incidents since 2008. Here's hoping that's abating.
