  1. Who's getting similar offers elsewhere, though? I agree with most of your well-organized thoughts and words, but munny's munny. The Dodgers went bankrupt, but the players still got paid.
  2. Bernard survives!
  3. It's going to be amazin'.
  4. Wow, that was good.
  5. I got that management had given up on his game. Missed that folks had soured on his person. But I'm not a daily Tracky reader.

  7. I hear they signed David Beckham. Just 'cuz.
  8. Duda's range is really funny. I find everything about the guy funny. He seems like one of the oddest personalities they've had in that dugout. Just extremely uncomfortable in his own skin --- which doesn't give me much hope that he'll ever get comfortable in the outfield. I'm going to really enjoy watching him. I just worry that I won't get the chance to really enjoy watching him help my team win. My hope --- and it's a thin one --- is that he's got some sort of awkward mental thing, but like with his hitting, once he gets things all in the right place, he clicks and has it all locked into place, and turns a corner. Or maybe he'll get really freaked out when teammates touch his head and end up quitting in the middle of the season. 'Sides that, after all these years, it's just funny to see folks get animated over a rumored potential deal --- especially one we know only one side of.
  9. Shares his position, his beardedness, and his native island of Puerto Rico with the guy he was traded for. Took up baseball late in his teens and had to learn to hit as an adult, which certainly explains in part his late bloominess. First scout to spot him? Glad you asked. Jose Oquendo, baby. At Miami-Dade Community College, he ran the 100 meters in 10.37 seconds, the second fastest recorded 100 meter time for all major league baseball players. (The fastest, you ask? Deion Sanders with a 10.26.) Nearing 30 and in the minors and in a 1-30 slump, one of his coaches suggested he maybe start taking the medication he had been prescribed, and whammo, huh? Is open about having attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, which he treats with the aforementioned meds, as well as therapy. He is, in fact, the subject of a feature length documentary on his life with ADHD. Had only 285 plate appearance by the time he was 30. Injuries forced the Giants to give him a chance at 31 in 2009 and he got into 75 games with 170 plate appearances and an .876 OPS. Further opportunities the next year opened the door and he went .823in 507 trips. Then he slid back last year. Has a wife named Soanie Mendoza, who --- while her name sounds like a portable personal device to ensure your rights when you're arrested --- is I'm sure, very nice. That name has also been spotted spelled "Suwannee." She's kind of wears those trashy rich lady sunglasses. I can forgive that, just stay away from Anna. k88dC6x-u58 On September 12, 2010, woke up with severe stomach pain. It turned out to be appendicitis and he underwent emergency surgery, but made it back into the lineup by October 1 --- in time for their triumphant post-season run to the championship. Is apparently the nicest guy on the planet. Seriously, could they be more alike? It's like the Mets traded 30-year-old ngel Pagn for 34-year-old Angel Pagan. He got traded for himself like Harry Chiti. Or even more, in some sort of diabolical deal, the Mets received Ramon Ramirez in exchange for four years of ngel Pagn's life.
  10. Fish are going to make him cut his hair.
  11. Well it's close, I think. C Thole/Righty to Be Named Later 1B Davis 2B Murphy/Turner 3B Wright SS Tejada LF Bay CF Torres RF Duda
  12. What's with Francisco's hat? It has an anachronistic logo and color, a sheen and structure that makes it look like it's made of vynil fabric, and a brim that looks like it's been sawed off. Torres and Pagan already photoshopped into their new lids. It's like some sort of designer beard challenge trade.
  13. Well, the rumor has apparently died. (Thanks 'Bucket.) But I'm certain that it isn't true that the team doesn't want him.
  14. That's the strategy. Convince everybody that Niese can play first and hit 30 homers.
  15. attgig wrote: they better get a windfall in return. but what's bizarre to me is that if they're doing this with Ike, why not with Wright? It's already been reported this offseason that they've invited offers for Wright.
  16. And isn't that what people seem to be demanding? A GM willing to listen to offers on the absolute last guy he'd want to be without. The likely dollar-for-dollar MVP? I hate trading. But if you're going to do it, it seems the savvy way to play it is to take the guys you love and let people convince you they can offer you someone you love even more.
  17. Reports have Rollins close to re-signing with Philly, Ortiz close to accepting arbitration from Boston, and Edgy close to getting a few notches on his cheap gimmicky ballot. Chuffed, I am!
  18. If true, the only thing I would read into it is that they see plenty o' value to be had for him (the Mets sure aren't the only ones looking for high skill and low salary), and it's a position they have redundancy at. Hope it doesn't happen, of course.
  19. We'll see what the market says his peers are going for. At least there's some redundancy.
  20. Damn, Cramn. The Mets should bring him back some September and let him pitch to one batter in a 10-1 game.
  21. It looks like a corresponding move will be necessary before this is completed, as they're bringing in four guys and shedding only one. Plus they have only two extra spots on the 40-man, where they will need three. Plus they may want to clear more room for the Rule 5 Draft. Baxter, Hererra, Stinson, Schwinden, and all your bubbly brethren, take it from me. Don't pick up the phone. 22. The Pirates have come to terms with Nate McClouth, according to Ken Rosenthal. I thought you'd want to know that.
  23. I'm wondering if any pitcher can lay a worser Met legacy than appearing in 11 games and them all being losses. Maybe some Roadblock-type character from the early years.
  24. Enjoy bunting much, Ruben?
