  1. That's summazing. Not that I didn't think he was a tool, but.... Now they're paying a scofflaw money that should be going to the fat and kinda coldhearted Prince Fielder.
  2. Octavio Dotel to the Tigers for a one-year deal with a team option for a second. The Tigers won't confirm any deal until a physical is passed. An official announcement could come by Monday. Ducky: Keeping the 1999 Mets active. Upon his first appearance for the Tigers, Dotel will set a record, representing his 13th franchise. Mike Morgan, Matt Stairs, and Ron Villone, along with Dotel, have all played for 12 teams, The Dotel Itinerary 1999 New York Mets 2000-2004 (April-June): Houston Astros 2004 (June-October)-2005: Oakland Athletics 2006: New York Yankees 2007 (April-July): Kansas City Royals 2007 (August-October): Atlanta Braves 2008-2009: Chicago White Sox 2010 (April-July): Pittsburgh Pirates 2010 (August-September): Los Angeles Dodgers 2010 (September-October): Colorado Rockies 2011 (April-July) Toronto Blue Jays 2011 (July-October): St. Louis Cardinals
  3. I haven't seen it. (Wifey is resistant.) It's interesting to get two threes here. This movie with these themes should be right in Seven Spielberg's sweet spot. And to get ratings of merely good, or not get a hit out of it, suggests he's really losing his touch. Or his self-awareness. Which I think is something he's always had to wrestle with at least a little.
  4. Some fine Andrs Torres glurge here, most interesting to watch his cinderblock and mud-hopping workouts. [youtube:1x22slpa]MPwElSGVsu4[/youtube:1x22slpa]
  5. No doubt that all those things have a price.
  6. Amazin' Avenue has the gallery of past Santas.
  7. Daniel Murphy is this year's Slick Nick. Also elving this year are Turner and Niese. No word on whether Jordana Lenz will be making an appearance.
  8. Supposedly there's a PtBNL or cash going to the Giants in this trade as well.
  9. And by signing Fonzie to a prohibitive long-term contract, Gary Marshall handcuffed himself long-term. And when it came time to rebuild his team after Ron Howard and Donnie Most left, he had to shop bottom-shelf and came up with Ted McGinley and Cathy Silvers, and was forced to move career backups like Scott Baio and Erin Moran into the top of the lineup. That's no way to stay competitive. Wait... what?!
  10. This goes back to the A-Rod offseason back in the pleistocene days. If the final deal was not right for the Mets, I don't care if they didn't display a more impressive posture. The deal wasn't going to work. Onward. They likely could have gotten a better deal at the top of last season, but they gambled and lost. We've known that a long time now. Did they show Reyes enough love? Did he show them enough love? Bleh. This isn't One Live to Live.
  11. It all starts with Bay, I think. That's a solid meathouse if health prevails and if Bay finds something of his old form. It'll take pressure off the younger players, and give the Mets a shot to stand toe-to-toe and punch with anybody like a good Brewers team. As far as pitching, we'll probably have to cross a lot more fingers.
  12. I think recent history has shown clearly that teams with payroll restrictions can excel.
  13. Yeah, "Punch My Asshole" wasn't the title of the next track on the album, but it kinda could've been.
  14. Yeee-ah, I shouldn't have Toiner in there.
  15. Assuming an opening day lineup of Thole-Davis-Murphy-Turner-Wright-Tejada-Bay-Torres-Duda, the Mets bench currently looks like this: Catcher: Ronny Paulino Infielders: Justin Turner, Jordany Valdespin Outfielders: Mike Baxter, Fernando Martinez As it looks now, only Turner looks like a better than even chance to be around on April 1. Others in the mix include Val Pascucci (corner infield, some corner outfield), Vinny Rottino (corner outfield, some catcher), Adam Loewen (corner outfield, some center), Mike Nickeas (catcher), and Kirk Nieuwenhuis (outfield), among some other longer shots from the mid-minors. Obviously, some other cats will be coming to town. Recent rumor is that Ryan Theriot is going to be non-tendered. He'd likely give you more offense than Jack Wilson, but less defense. Though neither would give you any power. He also has more experience playing around the diamond, while Wilson has rarely strayed from short.
  16. You really think he's out of his depth?
  17. 5 years $75 million this is the same guy form the playoffs right? The terrible one, yes. Also, he talks a lot with his thumbs. Wow, he reads like the douchiest guy on Earth. Bio: following my dreams since the 80's. pitching, racing, straight edge, PMA, and an extensive list of hobbies sustain my joie de vivre. Does "PMA" stand for "Punch My Asshole"? Just flashed back to my college days and got this. PMA is a straight edge abreviation for "Positive Mental Attitude." aWWI2rGdda4

  20. What was it about? Florida not have enough gated communities?
  21. That's fine. Ballparks, owners, mascots are also nice.
  22. Judging from his December 5 blog entry, I fear he may be in jail.

  24. You choose a player (or other subject) on your list, write some clever thing about him, and if you advance, your list expands to include all the unused players from your opponent's list. Good luck.
