  1. There's been some real ex-Met stacked Dodger teams in recent decades, and some ex-Dodger stacked Met teams. Sometimes, if you're lucky, you can get them going in two different directions.
  2. I hate losing Sunday flubber games.
  3. I dunno. The Topps Rookie trophy is something that comes up on occasion around here, especially since Omir Santos, since a few of youse are cardnerds. The Sox connection had to be part of the puzzle. I thought, "Did a buncha these guys come up the same year?" No, but some close. "Agee, I know, won the RotY. Did a buncha these guys come up and do really well right away? I know Seaver and Koosman did." MLB has no official all-rookie team, but then I thought... the Topps team! I checked Al Weis' stats and saw he put up a respectable .271 batting average and .333 on-base percentage to go along with absolutely no power in his rookie year, I submitted my guess. After I checked to confirm, I doubled back to add some trash talk.

  5. Short people have a half a reason to live.
  6. Calling BS on Jackie Robinson. Amazing how many awful cards Piazza produced as a Dodger.
  7. The answer is in the cards. Topps All-Rookie Team honorees from the White Sox who went on to the Mets. Seaver, Koosman, and Jones received the honor as Mets, and eventually went on to the White Sox. KA-POW! Suck it, Ken Jennings!

  9. Man, that was pretty shaky-feeling for a four-hit shutout.
  10. Bobby Pee. What's the sound of 40,000 peeps eating their hats? Hmghafmhfhfhfmgh.
  11. Well, the former group went from the Sox to the Mets, and the latter went from the Mets to the Sox, but that does nothing to eliminate Darryl Boston. Or Darrin Jackson, et al. And Koos, of course, didn't go directly from the Mets to the Sox.
  12. What a strange inning. Lucky, yes, but it takes more than luck to whiff Bryce Harper. Usually, anyhow.
  13. OMG Thank you Jayson Werth No, thank you, Davey Johnson for giving him the rope to hang himself.
  14. Rice ruining a good thing here.
  15. There you go. Fantine sells her teeth in the novel, but it's done "off-screen," in a scene Hugo doesn't describe first hand. They leave that out of the stage musical, but include it in the film musical and insist on depicting it directly. Realism.
  16. Gee's certainly yielded some deep shots, but a combination of Duda, Valdespin, and the wind have kept him clean. No wind could stop John Buck.
  17. Bucker Decker![/bigpurple]
  18. Laffey is pitching like a man who misses Vegas.
  19. Two heroes in this magical inning that shouldn't be unsung: [list:2n693mb4][*:2n693mb4]Tejada for fouling off all those pitches.[/*:m:2n693mb4] [*:2n693mb4]Terry for sending him up there.[/*:m:2n693mb4][/list:u:2n693mb4]
  20. Good job so far by Tejada, but since when do you pinch hit him with runners in scoring position.
  21. A seemingly disappointing inning saved by Senor Branquia del Vaca.
  22. And that triple brings Wright into a tie with Mazzilli, eleventh all-time in three-base hits, with 22.
