  1. Ruben back at leadoff tonight.
  2. I gather whether she's latching on to the son to get a ride to the top* is at issue. Two big turns in the dispute were (1) when a frenemy or two was (correctly, but less than tactfully) tweeting to her that if she's gonna make a better impression on his family, she should keep her crazy shit offline, and she went nuclear on her or them, calling her or them jealous, and (2) when she went from indignation to self-pity, either as a breakdown or new (and, again, tactless) strategy to garner sympathy, and started tweeting worse things about herself than anyone else had, including ugly alleged biographical details, and how unworthy she had ever been of @Ham_Bone28's Metlove in the first place. Bennett, to his credit, has been as twittersilent as the grave. (Not that dead people don't tweet. They do!) *As if that's a sure thing.
  3. Yeah! We're the only ones who should be mixed up in this!
  4. It's Kirk going down. I'm right and you're wrong and brother, that feels good.
  5. Fuck it. She says she's going to grind it out tonight and go to work with a forced smile. Good for you, Mielissa. So all you Peoria-area diners, tip your waitresses well.
  6. Yeah, that was what sunk him.
  7. What 'Bucket is posting is, like, the least of it. Smoly crap.
  8. Frayed Knot wrote: I just listened to about a 1/2 hour of Francesa (for maybe the first time in maybe a year or so) and he was all down on Twitter, like it's going to be the ruination of the nation. Mainly he seemed to be exorcised over Kobe's in-game Tweeting but there was also something about a Tweeted threat somewhere; 'Man, they gotta do something about Twitter' he says, without specifying who 'They' or what 'Something' might be. Yeah, because the advent of sports talk radio was a real landmark in the elevation of public discourse.
  9. Joins R. A. Dickey, Darren Oliver, Henry Blanco, Josh Thole, and Jose Reyes among ex-Mets hell bent on frustrating the Yankees in the name of Canada. I have no memz. Never had video access to any of the games he pitched in. Even during the spring.
  10. My prediction from the WW thread, sadly seeming to come to its fruition. Edgy MD wrote: It won't last with Ham, but the breakup will be enough drama to suck two months out of his baseball life. I'm a cynical jerk.
  11. Things I want my girlfriend to do: Tell me if she's "been" with other players. Things I'm not sure I want my girlfriend to do: Scream about it. We were worried that Hammie might get involved with the wrong crowd in professional baseball we're so pleased he met a Christian woman.
  12. Twenty-seven strikeouts and one walk so far in 22 2/3 innings at Binghamton. He's 3-0 with a 1.59 ERA. Hard to see what prospect watchers wouldn't like about him. I guess he's not particularly big, but mercy. He's been as stupid good at AA as Harvey in the bigs. In some ways, moreso. "Hello, my name is Rafael Montero. Prepare to die."
  13. I don't have the time now to check on this, but I did look up Lutz, who was the first pinch hitter used on the day he was added to the roster. Which is certainly different than getting them right out there.
  14. Relievers are often called up because they are needed with immediate urgency. Backup outfielders are typically not.
  15. Yeah, relievers often come up because fresh arms are needed.
  16. Does he? I haven't really gleaned such a pattern from him.
  17. Who's he pitching against, though? Buncha rehabbers and guys waiting for the short season to start mostly, right?
  18. Nieuwenhuis and his .364 OPS seems like the way to go, no matter which side of the plate he's making outs from.
  19. Err.... Umm....
  20. I'd like that very much, thanks!

  22. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: One more Fun Fact: Last time we saw Clayton Kershaw, it was as a pinch hitter in a game the Mets would lose 8-3 in 12 innings (despite a rally to tie the score in the bottom 9th). Loss last July 22 dropped the Mets below .500 for the first time all year, and of course they never returned. As fun faxx go, that's a real mayonnaise sandwich.
  23. Kathleen Murphy Lockwood, wife of Skip, just responded to [crossout:8ppzvi31]G-GaFiF's[/crossout:8ppzvi31] Silverman's Facebook post.
  24. Felix is great. Just, you know, shouting.
  25. That's not history!
