  1. Hopefully, Flores' flubbs the previous day is what gives Terry a push in the Ruben-as-Replacement direction.
  2. That seems to be the advantage the guy gets. He burns third base coaches who are reading the hit, rather than the outfielder, and he's getting to balls much faster.
  3. Well, I'd be surprised if delaying treatment on a hernia became a career-threatening injury. I myself am living with a hernia. (All the time, such aggravation.)

  5. You Reck me, baby You break me in two But you move me, Ant'ny Yes, you do
  6. It depends, I guess, on how compromised. But yeah. I don't believe our season means nothing, or that it means any less nothing than any other season. But I do believe that upgrading Familia into a role with a little more responsibility, and therefore upgrading Black into a role with a little more responsibility, and therefore upgrading Torres into a role with a little more responsibility puts the team into a better position to win, long-term and short-term than to give our most crucial innings to a guy who's cowboying up for the team.
  7. Which is fine. Part of the the strength of building a solid foundation to your organization is that you don't have to stay wedded to the plan as drawn up. People should be able to step in for each other. People shouldn't have to pitch through injuries. I'll also put in that category refusing to replace Flores in late-and-close situations.
  8. I'm playing for something. But sure, get the hernia surgery.
  9. That's a trap that'll drive you crazy. Pitching is simply awful business. Seaver, about a third of the way through 1969 was dealing with sore arm and was beginning to plan for his next career, when he suddenly found himself. Who know the mysteries of the human arm.
  10. 1) Flores' defense. 2) Not sticking with the hot lefty to go after Asche. 3) Duda failing to guard the line.
  11. Nuttin' getting by Utley today.
  12. Shoulda left Edgy in there to face Asche.
  13. Super-nice. Meanwhile, this has to be the first-ever two-hit game for den Dekker. Would like to see Ruben out there in the ninth, but I don't think that's part of the plan.
  14. Josh Edgin, today you became a man.
  15. I'd like to thank Ryne Sandberg for sending lefties up for the first two batters while Ruiz and Byrd cool their heels on the bench.
  16. Assuming Mejia can answer the bell. Murph's Rod Carew act is fun, but he's got to pull a ball or two per series to keep teams honest. No insurance. DAMMIT, RYERSON!!
  17. Get Ned Ryerson on the line, because I'm looking to buy some insurance.
  18. Ump missed strike three at the knees.
  19. Confused why a righty is facing Utley here. Tying run at the plate.
  20. As for Schmidtty, there may be some arrogance and ignorance of contemporary personnel, but there are only eight guys who can claim to be the best ever at their position.

  22. Mike Schmidt waxing eloquent about the Mets willingness to go after first-pitch-fastballs. Where am I?
