  1. Even when he's playing no-doubles, it's hard to dump a ball in front of Laggy.
  2. Keith is very into dugout etiquette.
  3. Heckuvan at-bat by both batter and pitcher there. Both were outdone by that Brooksrobinsonian play by Kodiashi, though.
  4. Moyer acknowledged it was generally true, but insisted HE'D throw over three or four on occasion to keep the runner honest. But he said it wasn't in lefties' "makeup" and he'd have remind himself to do it. He also said that when righties throw over, they almost always throw a curve or breaking pitch on the next pitch.
  5. Strange factazoid they're bandying about in the Phillies' broadcast booth. Lefthanders never (or almost never) throw over a third time.
  6. All hail the No-Doubles Defense.
  7. Couldn't catch that one, though. Boo.
  8. Duda is a better outfielder when he's playing first.
  9. Just nice to see Gee turn in a tough start. Too bad all he has to back him was a near-gift run.
  10. Matt Harvey not not being the story is NOT the story! Anyhow, notice how the same sentence appears twice in that report? Nobody copyedits anymore. Nobody.
  11. Jamie Moyer writing an open letter to Dillon Gee in the Phillies' booth: "Why do you throw a slider and a cutter? They're very similar pitches. With the curve, you're working on three different pitches with three different release points. You're not putting yourself in a position to succeed."
  12. Maybe wishful thinking, but Wright seems like he's seeing the ball well tonight.
  13. Be nice if Gee could hit safely once or twice this season. Colon has.
  14. Flores seemed to get down the line fine on that one.
  15. Funky way for the Mets to load the bases, but I'll take it.
  16. Charlie is something less than the most articulate of men.
  17. Laggy covering a lot of property this evening.
  18. Ugly HbP there against Lags.
  19. Had to induct Charlie Manuel into the Phillies Chamber of Excellence, or something. I'd have left him cooling his heels for another year for not beating the Janks in 2009.
  20. Anthony Seratelli. My second guess is "Not Cory Vaughn." My hope: Allan F. Dykstra.
  21. Man, there's a crowd.
  22. What a decisive Friday this was. Not sure I see the point in making such announcements, but still.
  23. Solid reasoning. I wouldn't be surprised to see Montero actually arrive this week and bump out and injured Niese. I don't think it's either/or though. Montero could get a stretch of a few weeks in the rotation, with Syndergaard getting a two-start looksee too.
  24. Tejada replacing Rey-O certainly started it. More recently, a mix largely including Young and Abreu replacing most of Eric Young. That was certainly a factor. David Wright: 0 triples in 2014.
  25. Rubin's preview declared today to be "den Dekker Day." Let's not get carried away with selling this guy as a savior, here: .184 / .250 / .243 // .493 in 112 plate appearances, with 36 strikeouts. There's a good chance he won't even start today, which will get spun as some sort of betrayal if it comes to pass. There's a lefty going today, too.
