  1. In a more just world, where the AAA Mets are still in Buffalo or Norfolk, Matsuzaka would be flying in for this start fresh as a daisy. Anyhow, all blessings to Colon and his family. Sorry if I triggered something in his fate.
  2. It's the nature of playoffs that --- more or less by design --- they give lesser-record teams a chance to steal better-record teams' bacon.
  3. Colon's last Mets start, I'm tellin' ya. Heck, he may get scratched before he takes the mound.
  4. I was looking for something --- ANYTHING --- to watch on a transatlantic flight, and I couldn't get through the first act on this.

  7. Work so hard to scratch out a run, and bam, it's taken away. Hit that guy in the boob, too.
  8. An out steeped in hugeness for Torres. And Granderson builds on it. Thanks for lifting Arrieta, Cubbies.
  9. One huge hit aside, Campbell has been bringing a real Satinist element to the mix of late.
  10. Officially cut loose. Interesting that they retained Abreu but cut ties with Young, but maybe CY wanted it that way.
  11. There's something beautiful when a great centerfielder chases a ball hit over his head. Because of his speed, and because of the distinctive wind resistance a drive to center can have on it, by the time he catches up with the ball, they are almost at more or less the same speed, and therefore no speed at all, relative to one another. When that happens, the catch is as gentle and natural is reaching out to pick a daisy, or pull a book of poetry off the shelf. It's sublime.
  12. Laggy could have caught that in his teeth.
  13. Gose didn't heed the unwritten rules about celebrating the end of the eighth.
  14. Tempted to send Nieuwie or dD up for Campbell here. He's probably coming out on defense anyhow.
  15. Wright just got himself a handful of d'ArnASS.
  16. Sometimes it goes down that way. Playing the rookies looks like that. Hopefully Tejada stays in for defense. (COLON is the slowest guy on the team.)
  17. There's those Wilmer Wheels I've been reading so much about.
  18. Wesley Wright's been around a few years, but still looks like a junior high student.
  19. [fimg=440]http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DXzOdg6FDfk/TtSf1eFP1vI/AAAAAAAAAW8/6Sk1rdC0iCM/s1600/57.jpg[/fimg] Always bet on Black!
  20. Man, somebody tell Wheelie what the eighth inning looks like. I'm not sure he's ever been there.
  21. Wood being the only one who had a shot at that should-have-been routine popup shows how easy it'd be to bunt against this shift.
  22. If Terry sees Granderson as ideally the number two hitter, that doesn't suggest Terry's expecting Daniel Murphy to be around.
  23. Castro got all curveballs and it wasen't even fair.
  24. Man, Woodie threw a LOT of meatballs that inning.
  25. Mets lead. And hey, Wood: Don't be coming in on Laggy.
