  1. The Marlins got beat pretty soundly by The Braves tonight, and do you know what that means? SOLE POSSESSION OF 12TH PLACE! And you know what else that means? FOURTH PLACE IN THE DIVISION!! Apart from all that, the Mets lead the league in Morabitos. The only limit on this team is the end of horizon.
  2. He spoke about you in the post-game. Man, he was pissed.
  3. Luis Torrens may be hot, relatively, but he's still a guy I pinch-hit for in the ninth there. Taylor, Brujan, or Morabito all force Washington to bring the infield in, and Taylor suddenly suddenly has hero fluids running through his bloodstream. Speaking of Taylor, Brujan, and Morabito, notice how Mendez isn't replacing Soto for late-and-close defense these days.
  4. Quite the tightrope. I hope one or two of you are available to pitch tomorrow.
  5. Striking out Tena is a better play.
  6. Walking Tena puts you one batter closer to Wood.
  7. Two down after loading the bases with no outs. Benge, this is the most important plate appearance of your career, including the future.
  8. Teach Ewing to bunt once or twice a game.
  9. Baty the potential insurance guy on first. Good time to pinch-run Morabitty, but that is not their play.
  10. And a four-pitch walk suggests nobody really wanted to face Abrams.
  11. Vivas muere, and it's four more to go.
  12. Good show. Always good to stand and be counted. Five more outs to squeak through.
  13. Damn, Vientisimos. I should have told you how big that at-bat was. The Mets need six more outs and this thread needs more people.
  14. I was hoping they'd stick with Brazzy, at least until the lineup flipped and Wood came up. I can't argue with Raley's results, but I kind of want him still in the game to face Abrams.
  15. Hey, I'm just saying it's tough. Advocating for more runs more than more Peterson. Keith Radd just described Ewing getting thrown out by a throw to the "second-base side of the bag." The bag was second base.
  16. Going to the pen for 12 outs with a one-run lead against this lineup is a tough needle to thread.
  17. Marcus Semien challenging a ball pretty much right down the pipe.
  18. Two-run single in the biggest at-bat of any year.
  19. Bases loaded and one out for Bichette at the plate. Biggest at-bat of the year. Any year, really.
  20. Nope, no opener. I assume that's in part because the Nats have several lefties that play every day, so there is no upside of knocking platoonists out of the lineup. Also, speaking of platoonists, it looks like the Mets aren't going to be using 'Bito against righties for the time being. METS Starting Pitcher: David Peterson LHP 2-4, 5.40 ERA Lineup: Carson Benge (L) RF Bo Bichette (R) SS Juan Soto (L) LF Mark Vientos (R) 1B Brett Baty (L) 3B Marcus Semien (R) 2B A.J. Ewing (L) CF MJ Melendez (L) DH Luis Torrens (R) C WASHINGTON Starting Pitcher: Cade Cavalli RHP 2-2, 4.05 ERA, 52 SO Lineup: James Wood (L) LF Curtis Mead (R) 3B Andrés Chaparro (R) 1B CJ Abrams (L) SS Dylan Crews (R) RF Daylen Lile (L) DH Jacob Young (R) CF Nasim Nuñez (S) 2B Keibert Ruiz (S) C
  21. And they put Morabito's face on the story, like he did anything wrong to put himself in the crosshairs. The crosshairs of "outrage."
  22. I'm sure someone did, but in both cases, explicit permission from Mays was solicited and received.
  23. I would suggest that it was less than a fiasco, but certainly a blunder. I think it's important that the Carter and Mays cases be held as distinct from one another.
  24. Two games in a row. I would not conclude much from it. And the good — it was longer than a week.
