  1. True Fact: "Cervelli" is the Italian word for "big fat baby tears."
  2. Shouldn't Walker have scored on that also? Did he get deeked?
  3. Loney, you bunting king!!
  4. Bunt the first two, Loney!
  5. The Pittsburgh DJ just played the Pogues' Motown stomper "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!" I wish we had our DJ playing that. And were giving him a reason to play it.
  6. Note for the Future: De Aza doesn't look comfortable against a lefty at all.
  7. That's some big-league flailing there, Plaweck.
  8. Jimmy's Seafood offers Machado free crab cakes for life.
  9. Not the most graceful of routes from home to second on that double, but well struck, Syndergaard.
  10. While his walk numbers have been stinky in 2016, it's worth noting that Akeel still has been a very hard assignment to hit. His strikeout numbers are sill frighteningly high and he's given up only 19 hits in 25 1/3 innings.
  11. Hey, a double! Do we hit those?
  12. This is going to be a hard play to rule correctly on.
  13. Notice that a limping Machado paused and did TWO stutter steps going out there and Salvador Perez still didn't manage to intercept him.
  14. Derek Bell. Akeel is a case study in the perils of calling a guy up from A ball.
  15. If we keep renting this guy year after year, Braves are going to have a whole roster of Mets guys they've gotten for Kelly Johnson.
  16. I heard the Mets only got Kelly after he first hustled Tatum O'Neal into going to the Stones concert with him.
  17. Way to stay on top of that shit, Blue.
  18. Color me surprised Kelly is in uniform, much less in the lineup. Much love, Ty!
  19. Yeah, you're this bad for a stretch every year. The trick is the response. Do you grind it out, shake up the lineup, or shake up the roster? If the last one, do you do it from within and without. The bizarre reality that they are hitting more homers than ever before, but scoring fewer runs than they have since the Torre era, suggests this is at a large level foundational, and I think they need to approach this foundationally. The Mets need a couple of contact hitters.
  20. Just yesterday I discovered and fell madly in love with this card. I have no memory of this player, but God bless him, he looks like a guy from semi-amateur theater playing a baseball player. Even his name seems contrived.
  21. Mets better win game two, 20-0.
  22. Strike this gorgon out.
  23. Six strikeouts in the first 10 batters. Let's see if Tom Walker can hit.
