  1. Gary says, "HORE-hey."
  2. Keith's best comment, which I wish he would have elaborated on, was that a developing player should be a good hitter first, and let the power come. In this case, he was backing Dominic Smith's approach.
  3. McGowan getting pummelled. They're extolling the arm of Rosario, but the throw came in high, which is what set Plawecki up for the injury.
  4. Plawecki down, man.
  5. And Rivera does the 1-2-3 double play. H8!
  6. Bases bloated and no outs. Let's go, METS!
  7. Gelbs totally lacks Guys' ability to continue calling a game during an interview.
  8. Rosario at short now with Cecchini at second. #future
  9. Wow, I'm watching baseball.
  10. Nats bringing the big guns to St. Lucie. Mets have something like their starting nine. 11. So sometimes I call Michael Conforto up. I do. "Michael," I says, "you regressed last year. It sucks but it happens. But you know what? I totally out-regressed you." I mean to comfort him. I'm not sure it does. Last year was real. It happened. But you know what? The year before was real too. And somewhere among all those injuries and between those years lies the real me? Which one is it? Get your bets on the table. 12. Jorge Toca?
  13. Also hit two homers, but both of the them solo, with a .111 OBP out of the top two spots in the order of batting. But the pitching was a revelation. They went with three starters who are approximately sixth, tenth, and 21st on the depth chart and the scoringest team in the American League couldn't touch 'em.
  14. The Great Wall (Chinese: 長城) is a 2016 monster film directed by Zhang Yimou and starring Matt Damon, who plays a European mercenary in China during the Song dynasty. He encounters the Great Wall of China and meets Chinese soldiers who defend against monsters. The Chinese-US co-production also stars Jing Tian, Pedro Pascal, Willem Dafoe and Andy Lau. This sounds like it was born to be an analog for the proposed US-Mexico border wall? I'm sure Matt Damon wouldn't want that to be seen as such, but the actors in The Two Towers didn't want their film to be used as an argument for the The Iraq War, but it was. It's February, though, and February is a month for dumping films the studios have no faith in, so I'm guessing The Great Wall isn't going to big enough to be used for a propaganda campaign.
  15. Hansel nailing down let's all you would be Robles-traders know what's what. Centerfield holds the board.
  16. Mets fail to score after loading the bases with no outs, Boston gets two runs back the next inning, and I want to die.
  17. This game is so great that it's turning around the career of Rafael Montero.
  18. Butchie had a good half season with Seattle, too. I'm coming in late and jumping on an early frontrunner, but I'm thinking this spring belongs to Gavin.
  19. Two perfect innings from the nearly forgotten Marcos Molina. Didn't see that coming.
  20. Unreasonable expectations taking over my body. Taking over my soul. d'Arnaud now 2-2 also.
  21. Frayed Knot wrote: I think MLB would push back on the "no real vetting" part. I'd disagree with the commissioner. Have studies been commissioned? Can we see them? Have we experimented with the no-pitch walk rule in the AFL and other less competitive leagues? If this has been developed thoughtfully, why is he trying to ram it down the MLBPA's throat? Frayed Knot wrote: Commish Manfred was on 'Mike & Mike' this morning where the pace of game stuff was the main topic. Among his claims were that many of these ideas are coming from the fans and that, for instance, most support the idea of the automatic IBB. You can find sincere fans who'll support any good or bad idea. They're a chauvinistic bunch. If you're willing to pass anecdotes off as data, you can use fan feedback to justify anything. It was fan feedback that was used to back that dumb initiative to link home field advantage in the World Series to the All Star Game. I mean, he hasn't returned any of the letters I've sent him.
  22. Simple question: Who is your pick for Mets Spring Training MVP? Hitters and pitchers are eligible. Feel free to elaborate. Do you have a STCYA Winner? A STRoY? A STRRPotY? A comeback guy? Bring it!
  23. Gavin's brother and former Red Sock Garin signed with Kansas City this offseason, and is therefore springing in Surprise(!), AZ.

  25. Yeah, they've got perhaps six big-league ready outfielders, and the three reserves among them (Conforto-Lagares-Nimmo) probably wouldn't be the worst starting trio in the majors. Besides that, they'll probably get outfield service this season from some reserve infielders—Reyes, Rivera, and Kelly. So the crisis isn't as acute as all that. But the system just isn't particularly shored up. MFS62 posted an MLB.com list of the top 30 prospects, and only four were outfielders. [list:1rdjnczo][*:1rdjnczo]One (Nimmo) has already debuted.[/*:m:1rdjnczo] [*:1rdjnczo]One (Becerra) is coming off a year half lost to injury and the other half spent playing hurt and drained of almost all his power.[/*:m:1rdjnczo] [*:1rdjnczo]One (Ricardo Céspedes) hasn't played above Kingsport and is ranked 19th, and is about 80% projection at this point, and may be getting a publicity boost from his name.[/*:m:1rdjnczo] [*:1rdjnczo]It's the last one (Desmond Lindsay) who is the basket where you're going to put most of your eggs.[/*:m:1rdjnczo][/list:u:1rdjnczo]
