  1. Finishes the fifth at 96 pitches. I imagine Terry is praying he can get one more inning out of him.
  2. Wilmer just gave a seven-year-old moppet a baseball. 4-2 Mets with all runs scored on homers.
  3. You always goes for a good Italian name, even a Venezuelan Italian name.
  4. Conforto looking rather chasey of late.
  5. Well, he only gave half back in the end. Of course, it's not the end. POUR IT ON, OFFENSE!
  6. A three-hit game by Flores will chain Reyes to the bench. MLB.tv is being kind to offer me the Fox pictures but with WOR audio overlaid in synch.
  7. I've been there. When the kid who only stinks because he doesn't know he doesn't have to stink, because his place in the social pecking order suggests he probably should stink ... suddenly squares it up. Sometimes he suddenly realizes it's not that hard and rips two more into the outfield in the same day, and by the end of the game, he has an all-new nickname. For us it was Derek Lucchesi, suddenly nicknamed "The Big Cheese," after hitting two homers in one game, that were, by everyone's reckoning, his first two clean hits ever. I hope Ben got some serious Schaefer.

  9. Yeah, I don't know why there was no Plan B behind Sewald. When you've got that many pitchers, it's not particularly kind or thoughtful. "intermittently focused" seems about right. Which is more than he was two weeks ago, but still not enough.
  10. Crawling is hard. Especially when there's wreckage.
  11. Surprised Granderson is facing LeBlanc.
  12. The seawall has broken.
  13. What a see-saw. First big league homer.
  14. Boom! Duda enters history. 1) Darryl Strawberry: 252 2) David Wright: 242 3) Mike Piazza: 220 4) Howard Johnson: 192 5) Dave Kingman: 154 6) Carlos Beltran: 149 7) Todd Hundley: 124 8) Kevin McReynolds: 122 9) Edgardo Alfonzo: 120 T10) Lucas Duda: 118 T10) Ed Kranepool: 118
  15. Feelin' sorry for Cole.
  16. Man, Polanco looked like Joe Hardy suddenly turning back into a middle-aged man in the middle of a play.
  17. Conforto to left-center is a beautiful thing.
  18. cooby wrote: I don't imagine Garrett Cole is from PA but that is totally a PA name Perhaps moreso, his actual first name is Gerrit. The base umps are kinda being little martinets tonight when it comes to calling checked swings as swinging strikes.
  19. Down 1-0, but four K's in five batters after a crap start for Havey.
  20. Hey, two digs in a row.
  21. I guess that shakeup is tomorrow. Reyes is out, though.
  22. No.
  23. Ashie's jumping ship. Gonna make swim for it.
  24. I think they'll definitely be working through their AAA options as the season goes forward. The question at hand is who primarily loses playing time. I think Reyes is certainly presenting himself as candidate A, but considering the number of guys whose contracts expire at the end of the season, they don't owe most anybody any playing time that they didn't earn the day before.
