  1. I speak as a non-trade advocate, but when Sandy is asked if it's time to call up Rosario, the obvious retort to his "Can he pitch?" answer is "No, but maybe the guy or guys you get when you trade one or more of the players in Rosario's way can."
  2. Here's to sticking with relievers who are getting the job done. It's not just a necessity from when you are running low on arms, it's a strategy for when you are not.

Reyes was called up before he learned strike zone recognition, and it's still an issue (his dramatic walk last night notwithstanding). Whether that can be helped with more seasoning, I do not know, but I do know that, at 21 1/2+, Rosario's certainly older than Reyes was, and that Kernan's column is off-base with the title "End the Cabrera Misery." I didn't know there was a "Team Later." Do you get cool tee-shirts?
  4. He's also made two impressive plays in the hole the last couple of days. Last night he got the runner at second on a play in the hole I didn't even think he'd get to, and a few days ago, he backhanded the play, bluffed a throw to first and then caught the runner rounding second. Columnists calling for heads the day after a dramatic error is practically as old as errors themselves. But they happen—frequently enough that there is a reserved place in the line score for them. The Mets' decision on when they should call up Rosario needs to be made independently of what happens in any single game. Of course it should.
  5. Jetes and Jebs reportedly disagreed about who would be the controlling partner, an issue that can come up in these purchases when the real majority owner is "The Bank." Still, you'd think they'd have hammered this out earlier.

  9. Baseball! Now lets get a pitcher on the plane.
  10. Reyes, come on. Get real.
  11. Ok, we're in bidness.
  12. In fairness, Keef, sometimes cleats grab on a wet field, and you end up sliding like shmoe.s
  13. "Geez, you get paid for that?" — Keef
  14. Smoker threatening to throw a third inning, though.

  16. Smoker got his first pitch over without giving up a homer. #winning
  17. Still 4-1, but the Brews have loaded the bases with one out in the seventh. Salas got ahead of everybody, but couldn't finish 'em off. Blevvy coming on for the Mets.
  18. José Reyes is the very embodiment of restraint.
  19. d'Arnaud should've tagged from first on that fly to left.
  20. I like Pill's bunting technique. He actually squares his hips, which nobody does anymore.
  21. Travis has one devil's horn tonight.
  22. d'Arnie whacked in the face with a bat. Man.
