  1. That inning is something to build on. Come on, Metbats!
  2. I wonder who the Milwaukee GM is taking to the prom?
  3. My thinking is that Pill's level is far from established. 4. Gee, I thought that was pretty good.
  5. Just a reminder before we get underway tonight: Pill's career line as a minor league batter now sits at .354 / .373 / .468 // .842 through 91 plate appearances.
  6. We actually had a thread once on where the Mendoza line was for pitchers, and we settled on a 6.50 ERA.
  7. If you want to lecture Maja, go ahead. I just don't have it in me. I sit there clearing my throat and blaming myself for not clarifying her job better. Things sure weren't like this before her TV show. My vote is to LWFS.
  8. Hud Barrelson?
  9. Rosario now packing a 16-game hitting streak in his back pocket, with an stat line sitting at .356 / .390 / .589 // .979. Maybe he could walk more. Maybe it's the PCL and he has Smith hitting behind him.
  10. Our most likely candidate for MLB Player #20,000, According Crane Pool Roster Central: Matt Oberste, a burly 2013 pick currently firstbasin' and occasionally DH'ing for the Rumble Ponies.
  11. Oh, mercy! We're soo close to the top of the basement stairs we can almost smell fresh air! We can almost see natural light! Special thanks to the Blue Jays and Troy Tulowitzki for dropping 17 on the Reds yesterday. 12. I think voters still care, in an otherwise close enough race, about a large number of wins and a candidate being on a pennant winner. I'd have to look close, but I'd likely give my first place vote to Gibson too. Seaver sure as hell gets my 1981 vote though.
  13. It's looking like a tough month for Ed.
  14. Yeah, that's about the sum of it.
  15. Tuesday: Donovan Hand @ Domingo Acevedo Wednesday: Corey Oswalt @ TBD Thursday: Mickey Jannis vs. Yefry Ramirez
  16. A cakewalk today for Columbia, as Llanes returns to his winning ways in a 14-2 win over Augusta. It was a Cinderella story, as Dash Winningham hit two homers a double in the rout. Virtually all the Flies produced offensively, except Tim Tebow, whose 0-4 extended his ongoing slump, dropping his average to .214. I don't think the SAL All Star Game is happening for Tim.
  17. Yeah, and even as it's a perfectly understandable decision, it's pretty unlike Sandy to ever turn over any cards before he has to. I know fans want blood, but fuck 'em. On the other hand, maybe Sandy and Terry know more (or suspect they know more) about Gselly's mindset than I do, and maybe pitching with nothing to lose was what RG needed.
  18. Frayed Knot wrote: Really just the one bad AB for Reed. That second single was soft and a GiDP if a few feet one way or the other. He was pretty much dominant after that. No doubt that single was unimpressive but he was all over with his pitches before that. But one or two pitches later he courageously started pounding the zone, like Gsellman had been doing most of the game. Good job by LWFS stepping on up to start the thread for Ashie, who I heard was out clubbing until 4 AM last night and playing bocce and hammering Coronas all morning. I don't know, it's just what I heard.
  19. Alright! Way to find your fastball, Reedy.
  20. And here we go. You stick with Sewald until he gives up a baserunner, man.
  21. I like to think that Bruce coming out on the double switch was punitive as well as strategic.
  22. Bruce somehow has been given a YOU DON'T HAVE TO RUN TO FIRST ON A WILD PITCH STRIKE THREE card.
  23. What a walk!
  24. Sheesh, d'Arnaud is coming into the game next inning anyhow. Let him hit here.
