  1. I got Robin Yount as one half of the trivia question. Is Rollie Fingers the other half?
  2. Stick with it. Chase Garza.
  3. Don't recall ever saying this about a sacrifice fly, but heckuva play all around.
  4. And it's sure looking like playing infield back was something like the right strategy.
  5. Good for you. Big shot Mets playing the infield back.
  6. Are we getting something like vintage 2016 Gsellman? He's not overpowering anybody, but he's changing speeds and keeping everything around the plate.
  7. That was a wormy-assed call.
  8. I am deeply annoyed by "we spoke to this demographically diverse focus group" car commercials. The white guy in the group always gets off a totally not-funny joke at the end that makes the young women in the group laugh. If I got into a new car focus group, I'd show those hyenas who's funny.
  9. Given three mandatory patriotism holidays per season, you'd think they could've come up by now with a goofy-lookin' helmet to match the goofy-lookin' hats.
  10. Yeah, especially considering that Gselly's got to go out there today and give it his all, doing the job he's supposedly already lost. I got that factoid from Puma. It could be something he gleaned apart from the conference, but he lists Sandy as his source and it seems to have come along with his press conference tweets.
  11. Park this baby here for now. 12. We can't wait forever on Ashie, but you'd hate to mess with the mojo.
  13. Week to 10 days, sez Alderson. Even as he came out of the game, they were announcing he'd be back on Tuesday. It was reported as tightness, and he came out of the game out of caution, rather than an injury.
  14. David Wright to begin baseball activities "soon." He's "definitely hopeful" that Wright will return this year. Céspedes is "a week to 10 days away." Matz to make another rehab start. (Surprising!) Vote of confidence for Terry with a loophole: "I think there are reasons for the record we have that have nothing to do with Terry." (Implication to those who read for that sort of thing: "There are also reasons that do." Pill to get a start, but Matz and Lugo will join the rotation when they have completed their rehab. Gsellman to the Gsellpen.
  15. Don't kid yourself. The Mets are poised to make a move. They'd already have done it if they would have taken care of business against Pittsburgh two nights ago. But passing Pitt is big, because the sooner the Mets do it, the sooner the Pirates will be working for us, helping pick off Chicago, St. Louis, Cincinnati, and Milwaukee, instead of working against us. Somehow, the Mets qualify as the hottest team in the division right now, but the only truly hot team in the league currently is Los Angeles. But they still can't catch Colorado, of all teams, who seems intent to stick around at the top of the league. 16. Hear those footsteps, San Diego? The Mets should be overtaking you any day now. Any day now. 17. Miami beats the Angels, 9-2, but Washington loses to San Diego, 5-3, Atlanta gets pummelled by the Giants, 7-1, and Philadelphia falls to Cincinnati, 8-4. Mets finish the day tied for second with Atlanta at 21-27, 8.5 games behind Washington.
  18. Ramirez has landed it.
  19. Amazingly, Grandy is up to .191 now. Matt Reynolds and Kevin Plawecki, get with the program. OE: That hit by Reynolds gets him up to .200! Call up Plawecki! Wait! Don't!
  20. That's three. I'll take it.
  21. Sewald is the right call. Let's get six outs out of him. Heck with it, let's get nine. First, let's get Jaso.
  22. Hello, elite company! 1) Darryl Strawberry: 252 2) David Wright: 242 3) Mike Piazza: 220 4) Howard Johnson: 192 5) Dave Kingman: 154 6) Carlos Beltran: 149 7) Todd Hundley: 124 8) Kevin McReynolds: 122 9) Edgardo Alfonzo: 120 10) Ed Kranepool: 118 11) Lucas Duda: 115
  23. Already reported above. That actually was last night. Meanwhile after Matz' day was done, Alberto Baldonado came on and put up this line: 0.1 IP, 3, H, 4 Runs (all earned), 1 BB, 0 SO. He can be a Met with a show like that. But amazingly, he was credited with a hold.
