Yeah, I don't know why folks wouldn't. The Moustakas stampede can wait.

Nobody should know better than the Wilpons, but a conspiracy of fraud with tens of millions of dollars on the line is very serious business. Presumably, one has to be acting in good faith to collect on a high-value insurance policy.

It's the ninth-inning pulse of life, guys!

Corbin puts down a fine bunt. Robles fields it half-assed, and throws it half-assed, but that's fine, because Corbin is running half-assed. I know, intellectually, I've seen this brand of consistently mailed-in-effort baseball before, but it feels like nothing I've ever seen.

I think our notions of David Wright giving back tens of millions of dollars is highly speculative. I know the Mets aren't giving us much to watch or talk about but there are a lot of things that need to play themselves out before these decisions will need to be made.

Well, so much for the getting-guys-on-base-and-then-hitting-the-ball-real-hard strategy.

What's all this I hear about Moose Tacos?

Charlotte shortstop Lucius Fox hits a sinking liner to left. With two out and the bags empty, a typical baseball player pulls up and plays that on a hop. The Mets, though, have an a-typical football player in left, and he went for it ... and regretted it immediately as the ball skipped past him toward the warning track and to the wall. But the indefatigable Tim Tebow stuck with the play, pursuing the ball with all alacrity, recovering it, and hurling it back in to shortstop J.C. Rodriguez. Rodriguez made the relay to catcher José Garcia who tagged Fox as he tried to complete the full circle. So, by going for it, Tebow ended up turning a hit into an out. #intangibles

Full count in his second plate appearance and ... takes a called strike three. He's the first player ever to appear in the Florida State League after being being inducted in the Florida State League Hall of Fame. He went .270 / .369 / .459 // .828 with a league leading 39 doubles back in 2003, before climbing from AA to AAA to the bigs all in one season in 2004.

Dave Kingman fascinates me. The psychology of the big man fascinates me. I think somehow, that season broke him a little bit in a way he never fully fixed.

Little League World Series. I'm just getting highlights, but what I'm following is nearly 100% wonderful. Meanwhile in Michigan, the Junior League World Series—I guess that's analogous to Babe Ruth-aged kids?—has produced this highlight, which I guarantee is the best catch you'll see this summer or your money back. [tweet:d3ehh2ev] [/tweet:d3ehh2ev]

I got an idea when somebody is playing baseball wrong, or counterproductively. I really think I do. Whether somebody is doing a good job diagnosing injuries, I'm far less confident. Maybe some of these things are apparent, maybe some aren't. Maybe some become apparent over time. Maybe some become apparent as they measure how a regularly used arm responds. I have a hernia. I know I do. I pointed to the spot, and my GP felt me up, and said, "Yeah, that's a hernia." But I've been in for an ultrasound, and they smeared me with jelly, and they couldn't find the bugger. They went out in the hall and called in a bunch of interns and nobody saw nothing and I felt like a complete tool. Then I realized, and the GP confirmed, sometimes the thing pops back in place, and sometimes it doesn't. If this thing leads to increasing discomfort, I'll go in again, and maybe look stupid again. But it really manifests itself while I'm exercising, and that sucks, because I'm turning into a whale. Diagnostics is a mystery to me. Maybe they totally messed this up, but I have no idea, really.

Let's Smith this game. Maybe Flores wore him out.

Well, Goeddel had nothing on his second consecutive night. His dad needs to tweak the formula.

Terrible call on Nimmo, no? A vet would get that call for certain.
