  3. Or double him home. That's good too!!
  4. Rosario leads off with a hit as the tying run. Hit and run, Mets!
  5. d'Arnaud ties her up. Our catchers rool.

  8. 1967 is genius. I think I'd vote for it over Sgt. Pepper.
  9. Don't have any expectations of David Thompson? Well, you ought to have some expectations of me. You know who had expectations of me? My mother did. You don't get the name Adonis for nothing. I signed with the Mets as an older teenager, and after spending 2013 and 2014 interning in the Dominican Summer League, I won me the coveted Sterling Award in the GCL in 2015. I had some fallback in 2016, but last year I was dazzling. A comet. I mean, I hope you were wearing asbestos underpants, because I set pants on fire, climbing through Columbia, St. Lucie and Binghamton in a single season, finishing with a 1.51 ERA over three levels. Organizational All-Star. That got me inivited to Spring Training. Sure, I spent most of my time there recovering from injury (*coughBarwisMethodscough*), but I'm already back in action with Binghamton, pitching an inning on opening day, walking one and striking out two. Opportunity is all I need, for I am Adonis Uceta. Don't leave the door open, because I am coming through it. When? You tell me. 10. It's very hard to fail in the porn business.
  11. Got any love for outfielder/firstbaseman Jeffrey Diehl of the St. Lucie Mets? Well Jeff stepped in to pitch a little in two games last year. This wasn't necessarily mopup work, either, as Metsmerizedonline.com pointed out at the time. Diehl, on the other hand, has not only found success at the plate, but on the mound. Pressed for fresh bullpen arms on Monday, manager Chad Kretuer turned to Diehl, who trotted in from his position in left field and recorded the final out of the eighth inning to preserve a one-run lead. Diehl retired his man via the strikeout, no less, and was reported to have hit 96 mph on the radar gun. Well saving a game and hitting 96 on the gun, to say nothing of getting passed by Tim Tebow on the depth chart, makes a man re-evaluate his career options. And now Jeff's a pitcher. Columbia outfielder (and grammatically correct sentence) Jay Jabs. Now he's Columbia catcher Jay Jabs. [fimg=300]https://mlblogssnapshots.files.wordpress.com/2017/08/instagram-jay-jabs-congrats-8552.jpg[/fimg] Good luck in your new deployments, gentlemen.
  12. It'd be nice to get Lugo and Gselly scheduled for alternate days, if they are both being deployed similarly with similar results. Sort of like Duaner Sanchez and Aaron Heilman. If injuries don't arise, the way to get Nimmo into the lineup as the season is certainly getting Bruce some time at first. In the meantime, Conforto is probably not going to be an every-day guy for a few weeks.

Frayed Knot wrote: But, breaks or no breaks, how does Dave Martinez not have one (or more) of his Four LHRs ready for Bruce when a single in that situation breaks the game open and the worst case scenario essentially puts it away?!? So, basically, the Mets are in first place because our rookie manager hasn't (so far) been undermining his cause like the division's other rookie managers? Matheny didn't seem to be particularly doing the Cardinals any favors against the Mets either.
  15. I figured A Boy Named Seo would be all over this.
  16. Optimism. It's breaking out all over.
  17. Sixty-one guys piled into camp, and only one was going to come away with the John J. Murphy Award for Outstanding Rookie in Camp. Yeah, OK, like three quarters of those guys were ineligible, but still, the guy who won it was me. Amed Rosario, Darryl Strawberry, Ron Darling and me. Or, if you're a glass-half-empty type of guy, Mike Bruhert, Darren Reed, Garth Brooks, and me. But hey, Brooks may still break out. I'm a throwback. I'm a third baseman who puts up a slash line that looks like what you'd expect from a thirdbaseman in the minors: .261 / .317 / .415 // .733. Good enough to keep around, get his promotions, but shouldn't expect a long career. But the thing is that those numbers come with great RBI rates. Yeah, they tell me RBI is more of a team stat, but it's a team stat that has made me look good year in and year out. And it won me a Murphy trophy. And it's also gotten me to Vegas, despite TOS surgery, passing Jeff McNeil and Jhoan Urena in the process. So team-stat this. And tell me what's next. 18. Both better in concept than execution. 1980 ... why is the kid in color and the Mets figures in black and white? Why does Craig Swan look like a late middle-aged guy climbing up his basement stairs? By 1980, the Mets should have gotten past the idea that their definitive fan was male, white, 10, and kinda dippy.
  19. Maybe the one with the DeLorean was The Met Fairy. Is this the thread that she ended her tenure on?
  20. I'd be irresistible in that.
  21. Binghamton wins 6-0 as they plate five in the first, another in the second, and never look back. All the scoring on homers from Pete Alonso (two runs), Tim Tebow (three runs), and Jeff McNiel (a solo shot in the second to close the scoring). Drew Gagnon gave up but two hits and a walk over six, and Austin McGeorge, Adonis Uceta, and Gerson Bautista each helped finish up with an inning. St. Lucie took a 4-0 lead into the ninth, ultimately walking away with a 4-1 win. Justin Dunn spread six hits across his five shutout innings, striking out seven and walking none. Leadoff batter Jacob Zanon led the way with a walk, a single, and a double, and Dash Winningham had the game's only homer. Finally, Columbia also enjoyed shutout work from their starting pitcher, with Tony Dibrell going four innings in their 4-2 victory over Augusta, yielding only one hit, but walking four, while striking out six. Conner O'Neil was awarded the win after following with two perfect innings and three strikeouts. Blake Tiberi was an offensive monster, totaling seven total bases on a single, double, and homer. If Las Vegas, currently down 3-2 in the fifth, can complete their comeback, the Mets will have enjoyed their first organizational sweep of the year (not counting the days this week when the Mets won while none of the minor league squads had yet taken the field). Kyle Regnault has come on for Corey Oswalt in the fourth, while Luis Guillorme and David Thompson have each doubled. L.J. Mazzilli drove in the third run with a pinch-hit double of his own.

  25. Mickey going with a far-more traditional lineup, with Céspedes third and the pitcher ninth and the shortstop eighth and the catcher seventh and stuff.
